Magi House Relais is located in the historical centre of Sorrento, in Via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani, in one of the most characteristic "alleys" of Sorrento. A strategic position: you won’t need to rent a car or use the public transportation. Everything you need is within walking distance. The wonderful cloister of San Francesco and the Villa Comunale overlooking the sea are located 50 meters from the entrance of the relais. And, thanks to the new lift located in the Villa, you are only 50 meters away from the beach/port. Piazza Tasso, the main square of Sorrento, is 100 meters away from Magi House. All of our rooms, aparments and suites are equipped with all the comforts that guests need for an enjoyable stay. The furnitures are modern and elegant especially in our gem, the Nettuno suite, which has a private outdoor Jacuzzi on the terrace, the ideal place to spend relaxing moments with your partner or the family. We do have also a luxury venue “Magi House Antica Dimora” , located few meters away from our main building, which is even more charming! If you wish to organize excursions around Sorrento, avoiding the stress of the car, the location of our relais is also strategic: Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples can be reached by train using the Circumvesuviana line, while Positano and the Amalfi Coast can be reached by bus, leaving from the bus station located only 400 meters away. You can reach Capri and Ischia by ferry and hydrofoil that depart from the Marina Piccola, a few minutes walking distance by public elevator.

Before I say a word about the excellent Magi House, a word about Sorrento. There are in fact a number of Sorrento’s. I’m not just talking about the Piano di Sorrento either, (quite some way from the historic centre), but the Sorrento that towers above the old town and has quite a few of the town’s hotels. I have never stayed “up there” so do not know about the practicalities - so I won’t comment. All I will say is this - we like to be in the centre of things and near to the train service for the archeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. So when we searched for accommodation, we restricted that search to town centre locations and you don’t get much more central than Magi House. It may be central but that does not mean it’s noisy - it isn’t. Our room (Zeus) was deathly quiet, glacier cool, had all mod-cons and could not be faulted. Sorry, there was one small thing - but not a deal breaker. The window in the room, (not a great view), was overlooked by two windows from a building across the alley. Curtains had to remain closed - doubly so if you were prone to flinging off your clothes, after a hot day “touristing”. As I said - not really any bother for us but a problem for “naturists” perhaps? Another possible problem for some visitors could be the lack of an elevator. Not that we had any problems, (being two reasonably fit 67 year old’s), as on both check-in and check-out, Magi House staff were on our luggage quick as a flash and kindly took it up (and down) the stairs (one floor up) for us. Also, our taxi could not drive up via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani but we were dropped off only steps from the front door, on via San Francesco. Covid-19 did deny us breakfast. The area where breakfast is normally taken could not be adequately “socially distanced”, so the management took the sensible precaution of abandoning breakfast and providing a refund. This came in quite handy, in providing the mandatory “tourist tax” that is common all over Italy. It also gave us the opportunity to get out into the sunshine and take breakfast in one of the many bars and cafes in the town. While on the subject of Covid, the hotel did take all necessary precautions to allay the fears, some may have with regards to this virus. I would say that in general, Magi House is geared towards the more independent minded tourist. It doesn't have some of the usual hotel amenities, (that we never use), but there was almost always someone on the desk to answer your queries, dispense advice, or organise things should they be needed. We were very pleased with our stay at Magi House and can recommend it wholeheartedly.

We had a wonderful stay at Magi House. It is in the perfect location, just a few meters from the lift to the beach, 2 streets over from the main street, and a short walk to the train station. The staff greeted us upon arrival and carried our luggage to the room, which I thought was very nice. They were super helpful in booking us a day at Marameo Beach Club and answered general questions about the area. I will definitely be staying here again and will recommend it to anyone staying in Sorrento!

We stayed for a week with our 13 year old son, in October. On arrival, Rosa greeted us with a welcome smile, our bags taken to our room, and gave us lots of local information. The property is very smart, clean with a luxury feel to it. Location is fabulous, right in the old part of town, in the thick of it all, and a 2 minute stroll to the sea view of Vesuvius. All the staff made us feel most welcome, even putting up with my Italian. Our son felt at home, and really enjoyed talking with Rosalia at breakfast, as she talked him through the huge array of cakes and pastries freshly prepared by Maria the pastry chef, and taught him to ask for "uova strapazzate". We hired a car for the week and made use of the special rate parking at Sorrento Parking Central, in the town. The hotel would ring the garage for our (Tipo grigio danneggiata :-), we had a scooter bash into us). The garage would drive the car down to us at the end of the road. At the end of the day, we'd drop the car off at the garage, and they drove us down to the hotel. Super friendly service. All the staff, including Rosa and Andrea were really friendly and helpful. Magi House made our holiday most memorable - recommend it! James says "Buongiorno" :-)

Charming small hotel, like an upscale b&b. Convenient central location, a short walk from Piazza Tasso. Lots of restaurants close to the hotel. Service is excellent. Bi-lingual staff very helpful. For example, they can arrange a private car service to/from Naples Airport, about a 70 minute ride, for 90 Euros. Only caution: the entrance is a half block into a pedestrian walkway, so a taxi will drop you off around the corner, leaving you a short walk. But the staff will meet you and help with baggage. Also, no elevator and rooms are one or two flights up, so not for physically-challenged. I left the best for last:. Breakfast is extraordinary. There is an on-site pastry chef named Maria, who baked fresh and delicious rolls, pastries, cornetti (Italian croissants), quiches, etc daily. Mamma Mia, be prepared to gain weight. The waitress, Rosalia, was the best!

A great place to stay while in Sorrento. Me and my wife stayed in the suite and my father stayed in a standard room. Both rooms were beautiful and clean. The staff at the Magi are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was our favorite part of the day. We looked forward to waking up to the friendly staff cooking up the freshest and most delicious breakfast we had in Italy. Baked goods that melt in your mouth like the croissants with powdered sugar. So many delicious restaurants in the area that the staff can help recommend. We tried at least 3 of the 5 recommendations and they were all a homerun. The lift is around the corner which is great for a day to lounge out on the water or take the ferry to Capri. You can walk right outside to little shops or stores, bars and restaurants. This is a great stay that We have already recommended to family, friends, and coworkers. 👍🏻👍🏻
