As we were staying only one night in order to break up our train journey from Bologna to Palermo, the location, 10 minutes walk from the train station and handy for exploring the heart of Salerno was exactly what we needed. What we also got was a lovely welcome from Joland who recommended the restaurant Molo 58 for a good... More

This is really a review from 2014 July. Trip advisor won't let me go back that far. Deciding against hiring a car, our Italian trip was relegated to train travel between points of interest. Salerno sits on the main line from Naples, so the ease of getting here is key to choosing Salerno for your home base in the Amalfi... More

Four blocks from the train station and four blocks to the boats going to Amalfi. Located on a pedestrian only street just out the door from the train station (10 minutes). Nicer looking hotel with very nice rooms, balconies, and better than average bathrooms. The hotel staff when we checked in were very polite and answered all of our questions,... More

Really poor ownership management: messages never returned neither if you want to propose a heavy-usage agreement (which we don't need anymore) nor if the guests you send there suffer serious issues related to the lawless state of maintenance of the hotel, below minimum required safety standards for any hotel. Examples we went through: when the only untrustworthy elevator breaks it... More

An easy 10 minute walk from the station along the main street. Walking distance to the best parts of Salerno including the ferry port. Our room was traditional Italian which I liked better than the Ikea deck out of the modernised part. The breakfast room is on the top floor and terrace of the hotel - breakfast offer could be... Big no for me. The hall was very nice and super modern, then we went to the rooms and it seams we were in a completly different hotel. However, the room was clean, but shabby. The location was nice, but if you have a car forget about it. It was a nightmare to park unless you are willing to pay lots... More

I enjoyed this hotel. My room was renovated and very comfortable. All of the staff were really pleasant and helpful. The WIFI worked great. The breakfast is a typical continental one, although it did seem to me that every time I went there, they were out of food. But the food that was there was good. I think Salerno is... More

We accidentally stayed in this hotel since the hotel we had booked cancelled our reservation for no reason! Anyway,Montestella is a 3star hotel right in the center of salerno. Great location, not bad hotel. The reception man could be a little bit more polite..and smiley. All in all a good choice for someone that doesnt look for luxury.

The room itself was very basic and there wasn't an in room safe however it more than made up for this with the excellent service, the great breakfast and view, and the location of the Hotel which was right in the centre. The room was large, clean with a good shower but it was quite dark and the wi-fi signal... More

The classic, "you get what you pay for"! The tiny room smells like a dirty ash tray, the bed is like a slab of stone, the only bathroom amenity is a 1950's hair dryer and the wifi doesn't work in the room. There's no parking or doorman, so one must lug their luggage down the street like a homeless person... More
