#7 of 57 B&Bs / Inns in Amalfi
Travelers' Choice
Villa Maria Luigia is the result of a careful and refined renovation of an elegant villa dating back to the 900's. The villa, with its wonderful views, is situated just over than 1km from the center of Amalfi, away from the chaotic Piazza Duomo. Its position allows you to reach the historic centre quickly but offers peace and quiet when you want to relax. And it is with the same elegance, cordiality and experience and a touch of sobriety and Mediterranean modernity that "Villa Maria Luigia" is launched as the ideal destination for those wanting to stay in Divine Amalfi and to be pampered surrounded by comfort and cordiality. Admire the unique views of the Amalfi Coast and Cilentana with the giddy sensation of being suspended between the sky and the sea.

Along our travels you come across places where it's all about the bottom line, so it was refreshing to come to a place where it's about their customers and making them feel welcome. We were greeted warmly and promptly, assisted with our luggage and brought into a spacious and immaculate room with an amazing view. The included breakfast was generous, including barrista made coffee which was enjoyed on a shaded terrace overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Highly recommend this property and already looking forward to our next visit

It really should have a higher rating than the 3 stars it has. Beautiful clean large room with amazing view. The staff were very friendly. The location couldn’t have been better. 15 mins from the centre of Amalfi with a shuttle that picked us up right outside the hotel. Could not have asked for more. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Amalfi coast.

Villa Maria Luigui has the charm, quaintness and warmth that I have come to love when visiting Italy, and although our room was completely charming, the staff is truly what made our stay 'complete.' The reception/front desk staff is comprised of several lovely ladies . . . Roberta, Alessandra. Alice and Raffaella (and Alredo at night). Most of the staff speaks several languages (including English) and someone is available 24/7. They are helpful with every possible detail including the lovely morning breakfast consisting of hard boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, delightful pastries, fruits, cereals and yogurts, juices and coffee made-to-your liking. We loved the panoramic view from both the patio or deck for breakfast. Breathtaking! We stayed in a 'double Room with Balcony and Sea View' for nearly a week. It was called the 'Aurora' and actually had a corner balcony with an extraordinary view of the Ocean, Amalfi, Maiori in the distance, etc. We loved watching the large Yachts and Sailboats going by. Oh, and while there is a 'lift' (elevator) from the ground/garage floor to the garden and reception area, the rooms are all upstairs without a lift. Our room was on the 2nd floor so we only had maybe 14 stairs (with a landing halfway) to carry our luggage. However, once again, these kind girls will help you with your luggage. We didn't make it down the '400 steps' to the private beach, but I should say that should you make the trek and don't feel like taking the hike back up, a boat will take you to town and you can take a bus back up the hill. Pretty special! We however, took the bus to the drop off in Amalfi (a short ride), and walked the few steps to one of maybe 8 or more privately owned - but public beach spots. They all have different colored umbrellas and offer different amenities for a fee. Some offer a chaise and umbrella, others offer a padded chaise, beach towels and bar/food service from your chaise. It's a great way to spend the day. I suggest purchasing Bus tickets at the desk as the Bus Stop/Pick-up is a few steps from the entrance and is available every hour and the same as a return from town. It is possible to walk down the hill to town but sometimes you will be walking on the street and sometimes there will be a sidewalk. I suggest the bus for 1.30E each direction. The Duomo di Sant'Andrea is a very short walk from where the bus stops and restaurants and shops are abundant. The further you walk up the hill, the more you will see. I would definitely stay here again and we look forward to it! Our memories are many and our hearts are full. You won't be disappointed!

Our family of 5 stayed this June 1-June 7,2019 at Villa Maria Luigia. We had a 2 person and three person room, both with balcony. The rooms were beautiful, super clean and you cannot beat the view we had of the cliffs and sea. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and kind. We enjoyed our self served breakfast and coffee everyday on the outdoor patio. You can walk down to the main town in about 15 min or take a cab. Coming from Chicago, we enjoy staying out of the main town and being in a quieter hotel. If you can handle stairs, there is a nice quieter private beach down near the hotel as well with a great restaurant right on the beach called Lido Degli Artisti. Villa Maria Luigia was a great place to stay while we toured around the Amalfi Coast and Mt Vesuvio area. We definitely would go back!!

My frind and I spent 3 nights at Villa Maria Luigia. Wonderful view , just one mile off the city center of Amalfi, 15 minutes walk or so. The staff was extremely heplfull and friendly. I would like to highlight expecially Alice from the reception, she was always ready to help with a big smile on her face. I would love to stay there again. Thank you for everything!
