Villa Maria Luigia is the result of a careful and refined renovation of an elegant villa dating back to the 900's. The villa, with its wonderful views, is situated just over than 1km from the center of Amalfi, away from the chaotic Piazza Duomo. Its position allows you to reach the historic centre quickly but offers peace and quiet when you want to relax. And it is with the same elegance, cordiality and experience and a touch of sobriety and Mediterranean modernity that "Villa Maria Luigia" is launched as the ideal destination for those wanting to stay in Divine Amalfi and to be pampered surrounded by comfort and cordiality. Admire the unique views of the Amalfi Coast and Cilentana with the giddy sensation of being suspended between the sky and the sea.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed 3 nights at the end of September and were very satisfied with the hotel. Our room "Aurora" was nice and clean and had a gorgeous sea view, with a small balcony around. If you are not a morning person, the shutters allow to block the sunrise light. The only negative point is the rather busy road below with "crazy" :-) Italian drivers making noise even late at night.
The hallways and entry are very clean and nicely furnished.
The breakfast is served on a terrace with a gorgeous view, offering diverse hot and cold food of rather good quality.
What warmed our hearts is the care the hotel staff gave to the several cats living around the hotel, even though cats apparently are not so appreciated by the people there. We hope this will continue in the future!
If you like swimming, the Lido degli artisti is just a few steps (+ many vertical steps, as every on the Amalfi coast) away - beautiful water with sunbeds to rent on a secluded beach!

Thank you dear guest for choosing Villa Maria Luigia for your stay. We are happy that your words show your appreciation for our work and for our beautiful town, even in spite of the "pilots" who populate it! :-) We love all animals and we would love to share everyday life with them. But the respect we owe to you requires us to have it towards all those who could stay with us; and it could happen, as often happened, that we have to accommodate people with allergies or who, for other reasons, cannot share spaces with our friends, often for very serious reasons. And it is precisely by virtue of what we owe you, that in spite of ourselves we have to make a choice and pamper our four-legged friends only in our private. The rationality of this dutiful behavior is given precisely by the respect we owe to all our welcome guests. Hospitality is, first of all, respect... Warm regards

This boutique hotel has gorgeous balcony views and a lovely patio to eat breakfast outdoors. The room we stayed in was large, and the shower was larger than several other places we stayed in Italy. The air conditioning worked fine, and the bed was decently comfortable though not exceptional. You can hear the main street going into Amalfi from the room because it's just below the window; but it wasn't too bad. We could still sleep alright. The window shutters did a good job keeping the room dark.
The biggest plus was spectacular sunrises and lovely sunsets right from the large window with small balcony. The view is simply stunning!!
The biggest downside is that it's not easy to get between town and the hotel. We would be down in the town (or taking a day-trip to Capri from the marina) and then we'd be sweaty/tired/etc. but would not want to come back to the hotel to shower and get ready for dinner, only to make the trek back down into the town. So we would end up eating an early dinner down in the town and then go back to the hotel by 8 p.m. If you really want to explore Amalfi or surrounding areas during the day, then come back to the hotel and then go out again for the evening in Amalfi, it is kind of a hassle.
They say there's a bus that comes maybe two to three times an hour. But it was not on schedule, so if you miss it or think you miss it, you aren't sure whether you should stand around waiting for it or just make the trek on foot. It's about a 20 minute walk down and a 25 minute walk back (uphill) and the issue is that there is no sidewalk for part of the way and the drivers on the narrow roads are crazy! We tried to take the bus from Amalfi back to the hotel and ended up on the wrong bus that took us 35 minutes in the opposite direction! (That's our fault, but I did show the bus driver the Google Maps instructions showing where we were trying to go and asked if it was the correct bus, and he said "Si" -- which apparently meant "you are holding up the line, just get on or off.") There is a walkway from up on the hillside above the hotel where you can walk (with outstanding coastal views) to or from town without taking your life in your hands. You can climb the steep steps up to the pathway not far from the closest bus stop to the hotel. However, it's roughly 245 stone stairs pretty much straight up to get to that pathway. So it's a challenge even if you're in pretty great shape. We logged 20K steps almost every day we were in Amalfi.

Dear Guest, We wish thank you for enjoying your stay. We are sorry that some aspects of the outline of the visit to Amalfi were not the best. Unfortunately, we have several critical issues, including traffic in the summer season, which unfortunately does not sometimes allow the return of the fixed times. However, the walk of about 15 minutes to the historic center is still easy and with a beautiful panorama. We hope to see you again soon in Amalfi!

Gentilissimi e informativi. Consigliatissimo!

Friendly and helpful staff, amazing location with a beautiful sea view from the room and breakfast terrace. Great size room and bathroom with all amenities. Satisfying breakfast choices and they were very thoughtful of giving us something extra for us to take on our travel back.
Only 20 min walk to the port and centre, or short bus ride, either way enjoyable ‘commute’ for few days of holiday. There is a beach nearby and lots of good restaurants as well.
Perfect spot to enjoy the coast, quiet aerea and still be very close to Amalfi center. We had a pleasant stay and we’ll come back again!

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days. My sister and her husband along with my husband and I. We had two double rooms, one with sea view (room 206) and the other with partial sea view (room 101) There are a few points to make about this hotel located at Via Mauro Comite. The staff are lovely and always ready to assist with local information and recommendations, the housekeepers are amazing and the rooms, while basic, are spotless. The views are literally breathtaking. There is a friendly and homely feel from the hotel which is lovely. The breakfast was absolutely fine.
The internal stairs are challenging. Unfortunately the air conditioning didn't work in room 101 despite several attempts from the engineers to fix it. The staff (Valeria, Alexandria and Fabrizio) really cared and tried very hard to get it sorted for us. Nevertheless, I only had air con for 1 night out of 10.
After 2 nights I looked for a room change but was told it couldn't be accommodated. I appreciate that they tried to have it fixed but it was of little use to us when we were unable to sleep. Some small compensation was made as a gesture of good will but it was not what we wanted. I believe we should have been put into a different room of the same standard within the hotel but as my request was dismissed I didn't pursue it further.
My sister and her husband had no issues with their air conditioning resulting in a much more pleasant experience for them. They offered to swap with us but that didn't seem fair.
In relation to the locality....
The 15/20 minute walk to Amalfi is dangerous with some paved parts and some unpaved parts where you need your wits about you as the traffic can be crazy. The bus service €1.30 to Amalfi is very good and we used it regularly. It stops just across and down the road a bit from the hotel and goes directly into Amalfi square. Tickets are available from the hotel and from a shop at the bus terminus.
The nearby private beach (down 500 steps) is €30 per person per day for a lounger. This has to be paid to even go down to the private beach and you have to book your spot in advance. We didn't use this beach as it felt extortionate.
The other beaches in Amalfi charge approx €25 for 2 loungers and an umbrella.
The boat taxis (TRA VEL MAR) are great and very reasonably priced. We used them to visit Minori and Maiori (lovely sleepy towns). We also visited Capri and took the chair lift which we loved.
I hope this review is useful to you.

Dear Mrs, thanks for your stay. We know that you have had a good time with us and that our staff have taken care of you in the best possible way. Unfortunately, this unexpected happened with your climate (which you were able to use for a good half of your stay and not just 1 night to be honest), and we immediately took action to fix it. Furthermore, as you have seen, we bought a portable air conditioner in record time which was immediately provided to you for use. Several times, at any time of day or night, the technicians intervened who were unable to find the leak that had suddenly occurred in the circuit; breaking the walls during your stay to verify, you understand, was not a viable solution. We also understand that it was your stay, but more than we did it was humanly impossible. You booked through an OTA, so we had our "hands tied" regarding the rates applied, but as you have seen and written, we have done everything in our power to give you attention also from an economic point of view. We appreciated your kindness, and we also know that you too appreciated everything we have done for you. We hope that next time, you can fully enjoy your stay! Warm regards

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Maria Luigia. The room was perfect, good air con, comfy beds and the room was immaculately clean. The view from the hotel at breakfast was spectacular, overlooking the ocean and the town of Amalfi below, which is within walking distance - 20 mins. However, bus tickets are available from reception and the bus stop is 80 metres from hotel, followed by a 6 minute bus straight into Amalfi square. However, what was most notable about this hotel were the staff, all of whom were friendly, warm and they genuinely care about their guests. In particular, Valeria, who went out of her way to find us a private transfer from hotel to Naples Airport. By far, the best hospitality we experienced on the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento. I would highly recommend this hotel. Would also recommend an evening drink at the hotel as the sunset illuminates the sky and ocean below.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel while we were on a small group tour and unfortunately it poured with rain the whole time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and served on the outdoor terrace. It’s a short walk into town. Our room had a small sitting room and we loved the décor of the whole hotel!! Would stay again!!

We stayed here for a week. Right from the reservation to our departure, the service was impeccable and efficient. Fabrizio was prompt and helpful to answer our queries, The pickup car arranged by the Villa was perfect. When we arrived, Alfonso checked us in efficiently and he even offered to make us coffee when we were departing at 2 am! The room we were checked into was very clean, comfortable bed and exactly as mentioned in the description. It felt very roomy as the roofs were 14+. The air-conditioning was surprisingly good. The breakfast was very good and really good coffee with fresh fruit. The service and attitude from Alessandra, Valeria and Raffaella was so friendly, cheerful and so wonderful that our entire group fell in love with this B & B. The staff also helped us with questions, booking cabs and advising us. Everything was perfect and made our trip very enjoyable. The location is great with very convenient bus stop. Excellent overall value. We will definitely return to Villa Maria Luigia!

This place is perfect for couples. Just a short distance to the busy Salerno area. The view is spectacular and the rooms are no frills. The view is what makes this place worth it. The staff are friendly for the most part. The main hostess a bit hot and cold, but very hospitable. No conditioner in the rooms and they only give you one bar of soap. One of our towels was brown w hair on it, but they replaced it asap. Seemed like a minor mistake or something. I think they thought we were making it up, but we were just as shocked by it. The breakfast is great and they have some small areas to park. I roiled stay again.

Dear Guest, we can't figure out if he really stayed with us, as there are some inconsistencies. We are not a few steps from Salerno, but about 30 km away. There is no reception manager but 4 different people who take turns at the front office. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, which, moreover, is included in the rate. As a courtesy set, all rooms are supplied with at least a hand spaone, shampoo, shower gel and shower cap. We owed that much for proper knowledge of the readers. Regards

LOVE this B&B in Amalfi! I'm always a little nervous reserving places without knowing someone who has stayed but Villa Maria Lugia didn't disappoint. It is exactly as pictured. We stayed in the rooms in the front with the view of the water - gorgeous! Some talked about the noise from the street but we did not find that to be a problem at all.
Besides the incredible views from our room, what really makes this place special is the staff. So warm and welcoming! Special shout out to Valeria who was always there to help us with whatever we needed. The breakfast was nice and the barista was a joy. She made a great cup of cappuccino!

My wife & I had the distinct pleasure of staying here the end of May for a complete week. The Villa, it’s rooms, and surrounding areas were clean, comfortable, and very scenic. Yes, it was a bit of a walk to Amalfi town, but doable. And you have such beautiful scenery to embrace as you make your way to Piazza Duomo. Just be mindful and stay on the “seaside” as you trek. What was best…..the staff! Maria, Valeria, Raphiella, Anna…..4 wonderful, caring, friendly, and efficient agents of the Villa really made our stay fun and enjoyable. I can’t say enough about their attention, and helpfulness while we were there. Yes, we loved the main town, and all there was to see & do. But we looked forward to our return to the Villa each evening to visit with who was ever on duty. Ladies….you made our stay very worthwhile. Thank you.

Hi. Bus stop is right behind the corner (20m), while a taxi you can easily take right in our parking gate. Stairs are only to reach the rooms.
Dear, here there isn't a laundry, but the villa provide wit an external service with pick-up.
Dear Guest,
we always suggest to go on our website amalfivillamaria, where during the booking process (or also only to check availability), you can see exactly the pictures of the room you are reserving.
Moreover, we suggest to use our website for all the information, because only here the content are made by us directly.
And now, with the end of the "parity rate", you can find only on the direct website amalfivillamaria, the real best rate guarantee.
Now, reserving on portals on line, easy to pay much more than direct website; because many times, the hotels charge the commission fees on the rates of the portals online than the rates for a direct reservation.
Please, try to check yourself for the same kind of room and the same period, and verify who say you the truth !
Dear Mr Adam,
a cheaper solution from Napoli to our Villa is take a train from Napoli to Salerno.
When you’ll be in Salerno, just in front of the railway station, you can take a bus to Amalfi.
Otherwise, at about 1 km, there is a pier where you can take a ferry directly to Amalfi.
When you’ll arrive in Amalfi station, you must change the bus, taking the first one to Positano or Pogerola or Agerola (these are differents lines that link Amalfi to the Villa) and ask to the driver to set you down at Villa Maria Luigia (this last ride take only 2-3 minutes).
Usually, we recommend our private transfer that pick you up from Napoli (airport or station or other place and at any hour) up to our hotel. The cost is € 110,00 one way (2 pax) (instead of about € 150,00 of the public taxi service).
On our website, you can find other information in “How to reach us” section.
Kind Regards
