We had a charming and unique sasso experience at L'Hotel in Pietra. The location is central for visiting the "sassi" area and have pleasant walks. We booked a small charming double floor sasso, which had been simply, but nicely, decorated. Breakfast at the lobby included a small but high quality range of products. We were able to park the car...

We stayed in the room in the old church / chapel. You have a nice view over the Sassi. The room is carefully designed and every detail fits in. The main hotel (where you also take the breakfast) is about 100m away (2 min by foot). Breakfast is served in a large grotto-style lobby (typical for the Sassi).

I was in awe when I first lay my eyes on the Sassi. And same for the hotel. Very fortunate to be upgraded from single room to 1008, the room that requires a climb to get to the bed. The design is so unique that it complete the experience of Matera. It was fun, but yes it might be a...

Matera is a spectacular place to visit, and this hotel made our stay there even more special. It's located perfectly; steps away (or from your rooftop terrace, if you have one), you can see what we thought was the best view of Matera with the Duomo at the top. The room was spacious and beautifully designed with remnants of the...

This may be the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in and I am an experienced traveller. It has only 9 rooms and is constructed in an old 'chiesa rupestre'. Our room had a huge four poster bed, a lovely upstairs sitting room and a charming terrace overlooking all of Matera (which is an astonishing place), all right in...

This is the most MAGICAL hotel we have ever stayed in! The design and architecture should win an award! In fact as i am sitting on their sunny terrace writing this review i can hear guests arriving and checking into the two suites and they are literally screaming loudy and shrieking with delight as they walk into their rooms (yes...

I would concur with what most reviewers have said. It is well placed and staff very helpful with a delicious breakfast. The one thing that has been mentioned and must be seriously considered, is which room is suitable for you. We booked a standard / classic room but had no idea that it was on two levels and we would...

Enjoyed 2 nights here. Rooms are set into the rock but with all the mod cons your stay needs. Very helpful staff and nice relaxed vibe. Only negative was the incessant piano music played in the lounge are and even outside patio. Bit like being stuck in a lift in a Marriott hotel but dont let this one small crictism...

We loved this place one hundred per cent. It is not cheap but if you want to treat yourselves to a bit of luxury and beauty, you need go no further- especially if you go out of season- we arrived at the end of May. It has no parking but if you park within reasonable distance, reception will take care...

Incredible location with the hotel incorporated into the caves of the countryside. Quite an experience with the main lobby an old church built into the ancient rockface. Some of the rooms a little on the tight side. Very helpful staff. Pack light if you are carrying your bags from the car!
