Hi, we are Vincenzo and Carla, a french-italian couple who fell in love in Matera' Sassi. After a long and painstaking restoration process we are really happy to welcome you in our historical dwelling right in the center of one of the most fascinating quarters of Sassi, Rione Malve. It's a fantastic place with a timeless atmosphere in which you will rediscover, history and tastes, serenity and joy of life. That's the reason why we decided to call it La Dolce Vita... The Italian Way of Life!!!Our BnB is right in the centre of the main turistic itineraries of Matera' Sassi, in-between the two marvellous rupestrian churches of Santa Lucia alle Malve and Madonna dell’Idris.La Dolce Vita offers two nice apartments of 540 and 645 square feet with private bathroom, tv, living room and a free Wifi Internet connection. The huge outdoors will give you the opportunity enjoy the fantastic scenery of Sassi.

Located in the Sassi District, this B&B offers an exceptional experience of staying in a updated and modernized cave. Vincenzo our host picked us up at the train station and took us to our B&B. Without his help we would never have found it, but once there we found it easy to explore the district by foot. There are excellent restaurants and a fabulous bakery a few steps away. Vincenzo was the perfect host providing us with a history of the area (in English) and made us feel most welcome. The breakfast was provided upstairs around Vincenzo's kitchen table and provided an opportunity to meet and converse with other guests... We had a great time here and would recommend La Dolce Vita to anyone traveling to this area. FIVE STARS for both the B&B and Matera!

It was wonderful to experience sleeping in a cave in Matera. Vincenzo the host kindly picked us up from a parking lot and drove us into Matera and his beautiful B&B. The experience of Matera is something we will always remember. Vincenzo gave us a really good rundown of Matera and what to expect. The reason we did not give 5 stars was for two things - arguably this is being picky but the wifi was really bad - it cut in and out. Yes one is on holidays and should not worry about being connected but it was a little frustrating as we had to contact our upcoming reservations. The other issues was breakfast gain this may be considered a quibble but essentially it was bread and bread with coffee. We were offered lovely croissants and some of bread with tomatoes - no fruit, yogurt or anything else. To be fair the cave room we had was lovely and cozy. The bed was really comfortable and the amenities in the bathroom were great - we were just a little disappointed with the breakfast

We greatly enjoyed our stay at La Dolce Vita. It was fun to stay in a sassi with its interesting design and history! Vincenzo and Carla were so welcoming and friendly, and it was lovely to have breakfast in their living room either the children popping in and out - a real family affair! Vincenzo had many stories to tell and kept us entertained for ages on our first night. I can highly recommend a stay at La Dolce Vita!

Great location to explore Matera. If arriving by car, the directions and instructions given by the owners are easy and accurate. No problem leaving the car on the outskirts of the Sassi. Our room was very cave-like! A comfortable size. Comfortable bed. Kettle provided, but no room safe. Good that it is Non-smoking! There was a bit of noise until late at night from nearby restaurants, but you expect that in any central location. Wifi kept dropping out, but again...you expect that being in a cave! Breakfast was a choice of pastry, cake or bread. Homemade jams plus tea or coffee. It would have been nice to have some fresh fruit rather than only processed choices. We can recommend staying here with friendly hosts.

The hosts, Vincenzo and Carla, are very hospitable, as well as professional and effective. They manage a very comfortable stay for their guests with a nice decorated/equipped “cave” room and a delicious homemade breakfast. The hosts are also very communicative and informative. For my late arrival and early departure, Vincenzo was very kind to pick me up from and drop me off to the bus station. The B&B’s location is just perfect, right in the center of Sasso Caveoso, which makes the visit in Matera so easy! I truly enjoyed my 2-day stay in Matera and with La Dolce Vita!
