Popular mentions
I stayed alone in the Avenida Hotel recently. As mentioned in many reviews the location is very good. The food is good , however , one needs to queue for a long period of time quite often. This can be very frustrating. One way to alleviate this situation is to extend the dining times by thirty minutes. This would help curtail the ' Cattle Rush'. The staff are very peasant, but , it is difficult sometimes, in the dining area, to grab their attention in order to get drinks. When you do it can be frustrating to order. How difficult is it to learn ten or twenty ' names of drinks in English '. The lifts are ' small' and ' slow'. Many of the rooms are very very small. I cannot believe that the reviews I have read , do not mention the ' Pool Area'. The pool area hasn't ' ANY SUN SHADE' that's in working order. There aren't any ' Mats' available for the sunbeds. These are the most uncomfortable sunbeds that I have encountered in any four star hotel and I have stayed in numerous. I would stay in this hotel again , if the pool area issues were addressed , and also the dining area.

Just returned home from a week at Avenida. Fast Friendly check In. We were on 5th floor. Only 2 very small slow lifts serve the whole hotel. Each one holds apps 4 average size ppl and they got very hot and uncomfortable as everyone was almost standing on each others feet. Room was clean (little on the small side) we had a balcony which was ok in size. Beds were comfy and bathroom had WC with walk in power shower. Food was actually pretty decent but dining room was a bit chaotic. There was a dress code for evenings where dress shorts or trousers had to be worn by the men. Breakfast was wear what you like, but at lunchtime my partner was told he could not come in as he was wearing a sleeveless top. This annoyed me because in the evening ( when dress code was applicable) we saw several men sitting in swim shorts and nothing was said to any of them....why are women allowed in at lunch with sleeveless tops yet men arent?? Bit sexist dont you think.???? Pretty average hotel in a very central location. Staff friendly and helpful but we wont be returning.

Stayed here for a long weekend, excellent location for the Old Town with the beach 2 mins walk away. The rooms were very clean and all the staff were very helpful and pleasant. While there was a lot of choice for breakfast and dinner, it was similar each day and was an ok standard. The fact we were even charged for water at dinner (on half board) was disappointing. Didn't managed to get close to the (small) pool as there weren't that many chairs and they were always taken. Overall an excellent hotel for a base to explore Benidorm, glad we didn't do an all inclusive

My friends and I stayed here again this week after visiting seven years ago. The food was of a good standard with lots of fresh Spanish dishes. The waiters were helpful and pleasant. Drinks were good and it was nice to have brands. However the two drink at a time policy was hard for a group of three as two of us always had to go to the bar at a time. The rooftop pool area was never too busy and the pool was great to cool off. The sun beds really need replaced though as they are very uncomfortable and the pool steps are missing rubber grips making them slippery. The pool bar does not open till 11.30 but the pool is open at 9. The bar downstairs (5 floors) does not open till 10. This means to get a drink at the pool you have to wait till 10 then go down 5 floors on the lift and back up again. Not very convenient. It was nice to see the room decor was updated (but not the bathrooms), however the air con desperately needs updating. We were far too hot the whole holiday and getting ready to go out of an evening was unbearable. We had a problem on arrival which was dealt with quickly and efficiently by Victor at reception. The hotel is very central and good for all of Benidorm amenities. However, we saw some children here but feel the hotel should be adults only due to the location, pool and food. We did have a good holiday but feel the hotel needs some upgrades and improvements to make it better.
