A businesslike hotel. Good location, nice room and bathroom. The reception wasn't able to give good advice on where to eat. The hotel offers parking nearby, but we were able to find free parking not far away.
While visiting Cartagena on a cruise on Celebrity Cruise lines my wife and I were on an excursion when my wife fell and fractured her shoulder less than two hours before the ship was due to depart. The cruise line evicted us from the ship with as hour notice of sailing providing us an ambulance to the hospital. After the hospital discharged us the port agent for Celebrity we contacted by phone arranged us a cab to the Sercotel Carlos III Hotel. It was a frightening experience being so far from home and being put on the street under these circumstances. I want to give much credit to the lady at the front desk "Bea". She helped us for several hours until we arranged travel home back to Florida, USA. We were under extreme stress and her help was invaluable. She worked with my family back home over my phone to find the best plan to get back home. She arranged us a taxi cab for the morning ride to a nearby city to fly home. There was a gentleman that took over from her and made sure everything went well after her shift ended. The hotel was comfortable and very clean. I would recommend it if you needed a place to stay with very good staff that provides service to it's customers. Once again, thank you Bea and the other gentleman that I did not get his name.…
Had visited Cartegena before and decided to stay overnight. Although a taxi away from the port there are a few very nice plazas nearby and the restaurants are good. The hotel was better than expected and the staff really pleasant especially Loli on the reception. Would recommend to everyone.
I stayed with my sister in this hotel for two nights in July. Not having driven in Cartagena before I found the signage very good with no trouble. I asked about the car park and was given clear directions and it is very well situated. The staff were very helpful. The situation of the hotel was very good for getting about.
We messed up the booking here, got the days wrong. Loli at reception was fabulous, sorted it out in no time. Had a great stay and an excellent breakfast. Cartagena is a very worthwhile city to visit. The free entry military museum, the Roman ruins and the beautiful streets were awesome
We decided to have a look at Cartagena, España. Hotel Carlos III was elected for no particular reason. But what a surprise: the reception staff (both female) was ”überfreundlich” and more than willing to understand my sluggish and incomplete español. Put my large Volvo in Alfonso XIII carage where the guy was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was much better than anticipated, maybe because we did not have any expectations. The breakfast was also very good and coffee more than acceptable. When leaving the hotel there were two male receptionists accepting my payment. Now I assume that all the reception staff in Carlos III is very friendly as these gentlemen handled everything flawlessly with great smiles. Getting the car out of carage was easier than I had thought: the very same guy [of yesterday] was there to help me to drive out without dents. He was exceptionally good advising me as my driver’s license of class E as such would not have been enough to help me to avoid touching the pillars and posts in the cramped carage. …
We have just had a very comfortable stay over the Easter weekend. The rooms were clean, the breakfast excellent and the staff very helpful. In particular, Roció organised our late checkout for us which was a great help.
Not exactly in the center of the town but a brisk 10 mn walk to it all. Room was clean and newly renovated. Breakfast was good and half price for kids. Negative was the backyard view of the neighboring buildings - horrible site.
This hotel was great, it was the first hotel in Spain that we come across that had complimentary coffee and tea and a kettle in the room. The hotel was about 10min walk to the Marina and main centre which had lots to do and lots of places to eat. Close to the hotel are bars, cafes and supermarket as well.
Sercotel Carlos III has small, nicely appointed rooms. Their breakfasts are outstanding. Their location is ideal for getting to the train station, the bus station, and museums. The location is not so good for beaches.
