First of all, after an exhausting time trying to get from the airport to the city center, it was so wonderful to emerge from the train station and see that our hotel was right across the street. The temperature was already hot outside, and it was a welcome relief to step into the air conditioned lobby. The front desk staff let us check in early, and actually upgraded our rooms so that we could go upstairs right away. The entire staff was helpful with advice and they assisted us with restaurant recommendations and reservations. There is a little bakery on the side of the lobby where you can get coffee, pastries, and prepared sandwiches, as well as a restaurant upstairs. We went to the areas around the Sol and Gran Via metro stations to shop and go to restaurants, and were happy to get back to our quieter neighborhood at Only You. The hotel is across the street from an interesting anthropology museum and is very near the Museo Reina Sophia. You can also walk to the Prado. There are several nice parks in the area too. We explored the residential neighborhood around the Atocha train station as well and were able to do laundry at a regular self-service laundromat. We also found a medium-sized grocery store within walking distance; I think it was "Mas por Menos." The rooms were comfortable and the beds were perfect!…
I stayed with my wife for 5 days at the hotel as part of vacations. Got a suite (larger than regular rooms). Hotel has a superb location across the street to Atocha’s train station and at walking distance to metro and buses. Also walking distance to 2 important museums. Hotel is recently remodeled and has a modern, young decoration, atmosphere and lights. My suite faced the front of the hotel at the 5th floor and we could hear ambulance and police sirens at night. I would suggest trying a room facing internal yard. Bed bath as less harder than I could wish for, but ok. Shower head is good. Wi-Fi fast and reliable. Breakfast at the roof top offers a great view. Breakfast has several options. Hotel guests seem to be mostly business people maybe because of the proximity to the train station. Both roof top restaurant and ground level bar always crowded. Mercedes (concierge) was great and supported us with great advises.…
Stayed for three days at Only You Atocha for business and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The building and common areas are very stylish and great to spend time in, especially the gym, which has a very cool aesthetic and decent equipment. My room was on the 6th floor and despite overlooking a very busy intersection, was quiet and peaceful. The bed was very comfortable and the rest of the room was really well kitted out. The hotel is right next to the metro station, which is really convenient for getting round the city. Overall, a fantastic place to stay.
We had excellent service from Carlos At Hotel Achota He recommended a coffee Martini. Absolutely amazing!! We also recommend the sangria, fruit salad, Cesar salad with chicken and their breakfast buffet. Thank you Carlos!!
We had a short but excellent stay at this hotel a few weeks ago. We started off on a positive note when we arrived at the hotel straight from our international flight around 10:30 in the morning. Although we expected to have to camp out a bit until our rooms were available the friendly and very bilingual staff surprised us by making our rooms available immediately so we could get some rest and freshen up before moving on with our day. Rooms are fairly small but nicely furnished and comfortable. A couple hours later we went to the charming little lobby cafe for a quick small sandwich. All three of the top art museums are easy walking distance so we went to one for a couple hours, and then taking a subway a bit further away. But when we were tired all we had to do is take a subway back to the Atocha stop and we were just feet from the hotel’s front door. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel’s roof top restaurant. Not only were there really nice views (including of the train station but all around) the choices available at the breakfast were absolutely overwhelming and with excellent quality. Whether you wanted an American style breakfast, Asian style, Spanish, sweet or savory they had you covered, and they were also making omelettes to order. We stayed at a number of very nice hotels on our trip but I’d rate this one’s breakfast #1. And the best part, when our stay was done and we were ready to take a train to our next destination (Seville) rather than call a cab, we just walked across the street with our bags, maybe 100 yards, and there we were. So what are the negatives? I guess you could say the style of the hotel is a bit eclectic/old fashioned, although in immaculate condition. And the rooms are fairly small (at least if you don’t upgrade) And while you can take a subway or train right outside your door to anywhere in Madrid or for that matter anywhere in Spain, the neighborhood right out the door isn’t the most charming if that is a primary consideration. But if you are planning on seeing different parts of the city and willing to engage with Madrid’s extensive and efficient subway system, arriving or departing from Madrid by train, and maybe even planning on daytripping to Toledo, Segovia, etc, you can’t beat it.…
For the price we paid it was absolutely fantastic- great location close to the tube and the room was clean and modern. The staff on the front desk were really helpful and friendly and the area felt safe and some good cafes around for breakfast if you didn’t want to eat in
We selected Only YOU Atocha for our Thanksgiving 2022 trip to Madrid based on reviews and location and weren't disappointed. Due to the excellent location, we were able to visit Reina Sofia museum and also have a 4 hr sightseeing excursion the same day we arrived from US and then accomplish a seamless train trip to Seville the very next day. What added to the pleasant experience was a sparkling clean room ready for us in the morning and a good soundproofing between rooms and floors. Very lively hotel with nice bars and a terrace restaurant. Excellent very caring staff. Top value. We will be back.
Our family of four stayed here for five nights, including over New Year's Eve. We travelled from Madrid Airport to the hotel by train, although it is also possible to reach the hotel by using the Metro / underground - after a 30 minute ride we alighted at the Atocha train station. The hotel is across the road from the station, about a 8 - 10 minute walk away. It is possible to walk underground from the railway station to emerge directly in front of the hotel, where one comes out at a Metro entrance (the walkway to the Metro and railway station intersect). Or one could exit the station and walk above ground, crossing around what is a very large traffic circle. Notwithstanding the convenience of the hotel being across from the railway station the hotel was very quiet. We stayed on the sixth of 7 floors, in rooms looking inwards, so with no street view. The seventh floor is dedicated to the restaurant. Check-in was efficient. The lobby area has a bakery, coffee shop, bar and barber, which makes for a vibrant area. It also means there is plenty of space to sit and relax if you have checked out but are waiting for a suitable time to cross to the station for your departing train. The rooms were reasonably sized, clean and modernly decorated. There was a coffee making machine and kettle, safe and a fridge with eight different drink types and some snacks that could be purchased from it. Exploring the area, it became apparent that the hotel was very well situated for the many nearby museums. The Prado was a ten minute walk away. The surrounding areas were very clean and well kept and we felt very safe walking in the area, both day and night. For walkers and runners there is the nearby expanse of the Retiro park, an area we would highly recommend visiting. What I would describe as primarily a shopping and restaurant area was about a 30 minutes walk away. It was a walk we did at both night and day and felt very secure in doing so. If one preferred, there was also very good taxi availability, no doubt in part because of the presence of the nearby station. Each morning we had breakfast at the seventh floor restaurant. There was a wide variety of choices, helping yourself, and it was excellent. We had dinner there on one evening - the food was good, with some nice views overlooking the station, towards the sunset. One could sit inside or outside on the balcony. We saw that there was a gym, but did not make use of it. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, without exception. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.…
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They noticed it was my birthday when we checked in and sent up a surprise bottle of cava and dessert. They also helped with directions and food recommendations. The restaurant breakfast is a must before a day of sightseeing. Location is an easy walk to the museum areas and a manageable walk to Plaza Mayor. If you’re a light sleeper, you might want a room facing the courtyard, but otherwise the rooms were a good size, clean, and comfortable. We’d definitely stay again.
