The Principal Madrid Hotel is much more than a luxurious modern boutique hotel. Its prime location in the heart of Madrid, its exclusive entrance, its 76 elegantly appointed rooms, the stunning Terraza (rooftop terrace,7th floor) with what may be the best views in Madrid, and its Ático (penthouse, 6th floor) where avant-garde haute cuisine meets classic cocktails in a space with the best music are reasons enough not to miss the opportunity of discovering this renovated building, now one of the capital’s must-see sights. The hotel’s impressive Ático and Terraza boast the best panoramic views of downtown Madrid. In both, amid large, lush garden areas, you can sip a cocktail or order from the menu concocted by Ramón Freixa (2 Michelin stars), soak up some sun in the Solarium or enjoy the sound of the overflow pool and the best ambient music or our outdoor showers in summer… and always with the finest service to ensure that your every wish is granted.

The Principal Madrid is tucked away in a corner right next to Gran Via and does not have an imposing facade but the location is perfectly central. It is right next to Gran Via, Prado museum, and Serrano shopping is not too far either. There are lots of restaurants nearby as well. The lobby and reception are pretty small and situated on the 6 floor. Rooms are on the lower floors. It is a very small hotel but the rooms are a good size and the staff is very friendly. The best part about the hotel would have to be their showers. I have stayed in a lot of nice hotels but rarely do the showers have good pressure. This one does and that is rare! I would go back just for the shower experience. In general, a great hotel in the heart of the city with really courteous staff

it is a great location to be in Madri, especially for those like us who appreciate walking as a means to visit and get to know a city. though central, the hotel and the room were quiet. our room was super nice and comfortable with a great view of gran via & calle alcala. breakfast was also amazing. we definitely recommend the Principal Madri.

We enjoyed our stay at the Principal Madrid, very helpful staff. The hotel is in a great location for visiting Central Madrid, a ten minute walk to the Prado Museum and 30 minutes from the Royal Palace. The old elevators were a bit tight but that is part of the hotel's charm. The breakfast on the 6th floor was excellent and we would recommend you include it in your reservation. Our only issue with our trip to Madrid was the appalling Spanish immigration in terminal T4 S to depart the country. There were over 500 people waiting in the Non-Euro queue, to leave Spain and only two desks were manned at 4pm on Saturday November 20th. It took over 1 hour to get through this queue. There were a lot of unhappy passengers trying to jump the queue to catch their flights. I was appalled at the poor immigration service at terminal T4 South. This is not the fault of the Principal Madrid Hotel but you should be aware of this problem if you travel to Madrid and use Terminal 4 South. I hope the Mayor of Madrid does something to fix this for Non EU citizens..... Its unfortunately a terrible last impression of an otherwise fantastic trip to beautiful Madrid.

The Principal hotel meets the high expectations related to this class of hotel. It's location is in the very city center, the ambiance is cosy and professional, the facilities are perfect (eg. 24h rooftop) and the service is personalised (eg. the breakfast and Atico restaurant). Some unique facilities are reserved for residents (eg. the sunbeds at the rooftop).
