This hotel is a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in the door until we left, if was amazing. Location is wonderful and easy walking distance to great things. Staff is beyond helpful. Concierge hooked us up with so many amazing things to do and got us great seats at dinners and events. Room was so quiet even though you are on the Gran Via. Slept in every morning. Hotel is SO quiet. Bed was beyond comfortable. Hard to believe this hotel is a chain and not a private boutique. Found the roof top terrace a day too late. It was amazing views and had sun beds to lay out. Bar drinks were some of the best I have ever had and I own 20 restaurants. Can’t say enough. Door men were awesome at keeping people out who weren’t staying. They helped us with luggage, directions, Ubers, taxis and were just awesome.…
While the hotel is lovely it didn't live up to the hype and our hopes after reading the reviews. While we paid for a deluxe room, it was definitely snug relative to other places we've stayed in the city. On the positive side, the bed was very comfortable and despite our worries about being on the Grand Via, the windows are quite well insulated (although be wary of sirens). The service was attentive but not warm. And the prices are astonishing: EUR 39 per night for parking; EUR 29 for breakfast. Solid overall, but not great value.
From the time I arrived until I left everything was perfect. Above and beyond what I had expected. Great location. Staff is very attentive and breakfast lunch and dinner are outstanding. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.
We stayed 3 nights here to finish our 9 day trip in Spain and we loved it. Our first impression was how great the service was and how friendly all the staff were. We were also celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary, so they surprised us with a bottle of Cava, some snacks and a hand written note waiting in the room when we checked in. They followed this up 2 days later, as it was my wife's birthday and they left another bottle of Cava and a chocolate cake in our room (muchas gracias Martin). The room was very comfortable for the 2 of us, and we loved the integrated bluetooth speakers you could pair to, so we could enjoy our music. The beds were comfortable and the toiletries were good quality. Other highlights: - we had breakfast included, and the selection was great - we had to leave early in the morning to catch a flight, so we were too early for the breakfast opening, but the hotel accommodated us and put together a great "to go" package to take with us - location! Great location to explore Madrid, very central and easy to access the great restaurants, sights and shopping We would definitely stay here again and loved our time at the Principal!…
Good location and great staff but a few things kept us from rating this hotel higher. We reserved a suite which we expected to have more space but seemed small. For the price. The bathroom, also small, had a cumbersome glass division and door separating the toilet, which we found ridiculous. The bathtub/shower was high and difficult to get in and out of, and a very rounded bottom which was slippery and a bit dangerous. A good restaurant but only a single fixed-price breakfast option no matter what you ate - a cup of coffee and a piece of bread was the same price (39 euros p/p) as all-you-can eat with eggs, etc. The friendly staff did, however, made our stay pleasant - we used the hotel van and driver one day for three hours and the driver, Luis, was great, as good or better than paying for a professional tour guide.…
Perfect ambience, exceptional staff , wonderful accommodation and service. Ideal location to explore and enjoy Madrid . Rooms were well appointed, stylish, and with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. We were here for 5 days and could have stayed forever!
Great location near the restaurants , shops and sightseeing (museum) ; friendly and “beyond” helpful staff who will always do the extra mile to please the customer; fantastic view from the roof top including a sushi corner and a bar with Great cocktails and DJ in the evenings. The rooms are not too big but they are very sleek, super comfy beds and fantastic bath products from “Finca Serena”! Highly recommend The Principal for leisure or a business trip!
This hotel was great! The check-in was great, the roof top bar was great, all of the staff was very attentive. It was also a convenient location for exploring the city. The staff went above and beyond any time we had questions about the room or area. They gave us great suggestions for restaurants and when we requested an ice bucket to enjoy a bottle of cava we bought in the city the bucket was in our room before we got back. Truly great service!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Principal Hotel. First I commend the staff for their professionalism for giving us the first class customer experience. We felt so welcomed and at home in our suite and the hotel is in one of the best locations in Madrid. I gladly recommend the Principal Hotel!
The rooms are clean and well designed, you could say stylish. The whole hotel is charming and has a great terrace at the top. The food and selection drinks were solid and selected by a famous Spanish chef. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing we didn't like was that the rooms didn't have enough daylight, but I guess that's the case with most hotels in European cities.
