Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

Hotel's Favorite
We fell in love with Room Mate Oscar the moment we arrived and our infatuation with the place only grew during our stay. The excellent location within walking distance of countless sights and shopping opportunities, the exceptional staff, the lovely room with all amenities and a magnificent view, the soundproof windows guaranteeing a good night's sleep, the perfect cleaning in every corner of the hotel, the roof top bar with the delicious drinks and the incredible view of the city, the extensive breakfast buffet with food for every taste - I could go on. My husband and I had some wonderful and romantic days here in the heart of Madrid's LGBT neighborhood, where the atmosphere is relaxed, and the streets are packed with little shops, bars and restaurants. As a gay couple we feel we had found a new home away from home. We have stayed at some of the world's well-known luxury hotels, but this place surpasses them all thanks to the very special and cozy atmosphere, the cool design and the dedicated and always positive staff. We are looking forward to returning to our new favourite hotel.

Jimmy and mario on reception particularly helpful and couldnt have done more for us. Centrally located and close to nice bars and restaurants. We have just returned from our trip to Madrid and we're so happy we found this hotel. I booked last minute and upon arrival was offered an upgrade, we took it and checked into an executive room on the 5th floor overlooking the front square outside the hotel. The room was lovely, I'm 6"3 and could lie across the bed so very very big, sofa, desk, large TV and open plan bathroom, with large window double glazed for a quiet sleep. Rooms are modern and stylish as is the whole hotel. I guess the main attraction to this place is the rooftop pool/bar, it's a great area to catch some sun, and my only negative comment and the reason not giving 5 stars is this area, I think the drinks are very expensive compared to other bars we went to, €13 for a cocktail I think, while other rooftop bars we went to charged €8, and also half the rooftop is reserved for people who pay to come up for the day. The area around the pool is for hotel guests, with maybe 12 loungers, while the other side with the sofas and loungers is reserved for day guests, we felt quite annoyed when having paid almost €600 we were told we couldn't sit there as people paying I think €15 for a pass had priority over us, I don't think the roof area is big enough for this as once a few couples are up there all the space is gone. we made sure we got there early and usually got a lounger but we heard many guests being told to leave the area and having to sit on the hard bar seats till a lounger became available. The pool is open till 7pm where it shuts for 30mins and reopens at 7:30 as an evening bar. the 2 bar guys are really nice to chat 2, very friendly and always offered us table service etc. We had breakfast every morning that was perfect, with everything you could want, cooked food, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, toasts, pastries, coffee machines and fruit juices, and was always very quiet being open from 7am to 12. We also had no idea when booking this hotel was in the gay area of madrid and is a gay friendly hotel, we also didnt know it was Madrid pride finishing the day we arrived so we were abit shocked wheh first turning up as a hetro couple, but I cannot stress how friendly everyone was there, all staff, all other guests, we did not feel out of place at all at any point and both said it was a perfect place to stay in a lovely area of the city, we're so glad we found this hotel, and thank you for making our stay one to remember, we will certainly be back and will be staying at other roommate hotels in the future.
