Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

I stayed in the best room of this hotel last week-end. I really enjoyed it; it is the most amazing hotel room I ever stayed in. I enjoyed everything; the bathtub in the room, the great balcony, the shower with direct access to the balcony. I loved the rooftop swimming pool, although it is always too crowded. Thanks to the staff, who are very professional and very friendly.

Hotel's Favorite
We fell in love with Room Mate Oscar the moment we arrived and our infatuation with the place only grew during our stay. The excellent location within walking distance of countless sights and shopping opportunities, the exceptional staff, the lovely room with all amenities and a magnificent view, the soundproof windows guaranteeing a good night's sleep, the perfect cleaning in every corner of the hotel, the roof top bar with the delicious drinks and the incredible view of the city, the extensive breakfast buffet with food for every taste - I could go on. My husband and I had some wonderful and romantic days here in the heart of Madrid's LGBT neighborhood, where the atmosphere is relaxed, and the streets are packed with little shops, bars and restaurants. As a gay couple we feel we had found a new home away from home. We have stayed at some of the world's well-known luxury hotels, but this place surpasses them all thanks to the very special and cozy atmosphere, the cool design and the dedicated and always positive staff. We are looking forward to returning to our new favourite hotel.

Wow. Room Mate Oscar knows how it is done! I have to say we had the best experience at Room Mate Oscar. We had a warm welcome upon arrival and offered a room upgrade for a small fee. All of the staff encountered were incredibly friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much for them. I have never stayed in a hotel where every member of staff so clearly love their job. The Rooftop pool and bar was the reason we chose this hotel for our girlie holiday and it did not disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, very modern, clean, and quiet. A very small but clean pool. There is also a good choice of food and drinks on the menu. We noticed that many regulars come to the rooftop too so it is a popular spot, and has a good vibe in the evenings with amazing views. Our room was perfect. Clean, modern, comfortable, quiet, cool. There were mirrors everywhere, perfect for sharing with girls! And the shower was lovely with nice fluffy towels. Our toiletries were stocked up daily too which was a nice touch. WiFi was brilliant. We never had to re connect. Hurrah! Check out is at midday - such a treat! Why can’t all hotels have late checkout? Breakfast was included and was very nice. Modest menu but something for everyone. all food was well cooked and there was plenty to chose from. Best of all it is available until midday! We couldn’t have been happier with our choice! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Especially those looking for an adults only holiday.

Room mate Oscar is a funky hotel with each room decorated in a different manner and style , upon arrival they noted I’d stayed in room mate Mexico City in zona Rosa last year and asked how I liked it, I said I loved it but my room was very noisy as not as sound proofed as lower floors , the wonderful staff in Madrid moved me to a room they assured me would be quiet and it was , There is a pool on the roof which turns into a bar area later in the day , sadly I didn’t get to utilise it but I did take a look . The staff were attentive efficient and so well trained, thank you room mate Oscar for this, lastly , if it’s all about location , room mate Oscar has it all , views from rooftop

We really enjoyed our 4 day stay at this hotel. Friendly greeting on arrival - and a very reasonable offer to upgrade to a better room for the stay. Huge bed, good air conditioning, nice toiletries provided. Breakfast was excellent and available to late morning. Its a small pool but good for a couple of hours lounging round. My only complaint would be the cost of drinks at the pool bar but otherwise we highly recommend this hotel.
