We had some concerns about this hostal. My wife and I awoke with a total of five welts on our shoulders, presumably from insect bites overnight. We told the management about this in the morning, and he showed no interest. The room was very small, with the air conditioner blowing directly on us at night. You must lock the door... More

Dear Mr Bruce Gale,  Thank you very much for the review of your recent stay at our hotel. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we want to improve with each and every stay.  Actually, the receptionist did immediately verify your complaints, together with the cleaning lady, but there were no insects to be found in your room. Insects... More

Hostal Santa Domingo provides good value for money in a great location. The property itself is located on the second floor of a nondescript building, blink and you will miss it. You also only get 1 set of keys (3 to be precise) so you best play nice with your travel partner. The room features small TV, air conditioning, tea... More

Me and my partne recently went to Madrid and stayed at Santodominigo Hostal, I was a little bit nervous at first as we arrived at night and it is not well advertised from the outside, however the hostal is lovely and clean inside. The reception staff were fantastic and well accomdating. I was not expecting much from a hostal but... More

Nice location, very fresh and clean, very nice and helpful staff. But small rooms, no breakfastarea, no common areas where you can sit down. Just as they present it - it's a hostal, not a hotel. So we liked it, good value for money. If you just need somewhere to sleep, this is great.

The accommodation is on the second and third floor of a building in the centre of Madrid and close to the Metro. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful. There is a small communal area with computers (free to use) and a vending machine and there is free wifi in the rooms.

I've been host with my girlfriend at Hostal Santo Domingo three nights from 20 to 23 of August. The room was clean, new bathrooms, new furnitures with a nice taste arrangement. Nice people in reception, kind and always available for informations. Excellent even the price especially for being located in the center of Madrid. Compliments.

I stayed here for 4 nights. It's not in Madrid so the AC was needed. Cool room with all you need .a very good WiFi. Plus a computer in the small lounge if needed. It's not a place to meet others . No breakfast room .

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
