The hotel is located on a safe and quiet street just 10 minutes walk from the numerous transport links at Cibeles where you can access the extremely efficient Airport Bus service (€5 p.p. each way). Even closer (2 minute walk) is the MetroBus at Plaza Independence, which provides fast and cheap access to the city centre (10 trip ticket €12.20...

We stayed here 4 nights. Asked for a higher floor (for quiet) and ended up on the 2nd floor (out of 5). Fortunately, our room was quiet anyway. Spacious room, and the small fridge with complementary beverages was a very nice touch. We could walk to the art museums and any number of restaurants, but took the metro to other...

We stayed here on our way back from a Greek Islands cruise and Venice on an overnight stay. The hotel is very chick, modern and clean. It is like a boutique hotel. I thought that it was in a different location, near Santa Ana, but it was still a short taxi ride to the center of town. I did not...

I stayed here for several nights while in Madrid on pleasure with family. It is a no-frills hotel with contemporary style. It has a great location for seeing the sites of the city, and a quiet atmosphere to retreat to after a busy day of business or activities. The hotel also has a very convenient attached, basement garage. We really...

Stayed here for a city break - hotel is on a quiet street around the corner from Retiro park and the upmarket shopping area. Easy metro or bus from airport and can walk to just about anywhere (got the 17EUR ish three day travel pass at the airport - definitely worth it). Was glad to be away from the very...

First time we stayed at an AC hotel and maybe booked it as it's part of the Marriott chain and very close to both most major tourist attractions and Madrid's gay area around Chueca. The rooms are okay but not great, very nice funky looking bathroom but unfortunately rather uncomfy beds with cheapish plastic-filled pillows. The Wifi in the rooms...

My husband wanted to be near the Center of Madrid/Plaza Mayor, etc. I found AC Recoletos online and checked TripAdvisor ratings. A friend used Marriot Points so we stayed for free at this property. While it is largely a business hotel (one suite), I never felt as if my family was unwelcome. The rooms are contemporary but not stark. The...

Stayed at the AC Recoletos hotel recently using Marriott points. It was a nice hotel and was fantastically situated in Madrid. I'd happily stay here again with or without points. Only issue was that the rooms have hardwood floors making things a bit louder in the room and hallways than I'd like, but that's why I always travel with earplugs.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
