We stayed in this hostal in early June. I was not aware that the entire building would be covered in scaffolding and netting, as this was not mention in their website. So we had no view. The hostal itself was okay, however, our room backed up to another room's bathroom plumbing, and the guests in that room decided to run... More

The location of this hotel cannot be better. Easy access to all of Madrid's attractions and to transportation. The staff was friendly and helpful. Best of all, the elevators worked! The room was big and well appointed. So was the bathroom.

Stayed here with bunch of friends. Great central location for the bars and restaurants. Close to metro station to get around easily. Rooms are basic, small but are kept clean and linen is fresh. The staff were friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and helpful. No room tea/coffee, but Mc Cafe is below hostel, so easy to get drinks. For most of 2016 the... More

I love the location of this hotel, just few steps from Gran Via Metro station. A bit small but clean hotel nice staff. Anyway you only need a place to sleep because during the day you are roaming around Madrid, Ideal for couple. Walking distance in so many tourist spots. Plenty of bar and resto around the area. I would... More

Great location. Noisy at night but to be expected given its position. Good size rooms and clean. No English TV channels. Friendly and helpful staff. Handy for main shopping areas and lots of restaurants nearby.

Stayed here for 5 days during a recent trip to sunny Madrid. This hotel is located just off the Gran Via minutes walk to all shops and bars. We stayed on the 8th floor with great views however there was scaffolding all around the building so views were very restricted. There is a balcony on the very top level with... More

If you are looking to find a budget hotel, be in a good location, and not worry about room appointments, then this is a good place. It is right on a main square that is a mini times square.. but if you walk a block or two you are in another central area where it is easy to access public... More

This is a bare-bones budget hotel-- a place to sleep and that's pretty much it. However, it was clean, safe, friendly, and in a great location. If this is what fits your budget, then it's a good choice. It's located on the 7th & 8th floors of a building on the Gran Via and the Plaza de la Red de... More

Booked via a Travel website for a very good price. Excellent location - we took the metro, from & too the airport. Very easy with the Gran Via station just outside the building. Perfect as just above Sol and just below Chueca, so an excellent base. Very very busy around though, the pace doesn't slow. Beautiful building, 24 hour reception.... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
