Clean efficient city centre hotel. Modern style all grey and chrome with huge TVs in room and excellent shower room. No complaints at all about room or bed (comfortable) but the hotel fronts on to a busy street with a bus stop directly outside and traffic noise including periodic carousing (plus cacophanous bin emptying at 3am) seems to go on...

This is the second time I have stayed there, and again it was very enjoyable. Staff recognized me even though it was a year ago since my last stay, which surprised me. The room and bathroom were spacious and the room was equipped with a brand new TV. I especially appreciated the little details. The receptionist Teresa organised a plate...

If you want reasonable, comfy, and clean, PPSB fits the bill. Half a block from the Metro station, an easy walk to Plaza Mayor, the Prado, and other spots. Lot's of very good restaurants in the neighborhood-not your ordinary tourist spots so the food has to be good. Helpful and friendly staff

I like the hotel's central location - just few steps from Gran Via with great shopping options. Right near the Santo Domingo metro station, walking distance to Plaza de Espana - and fairly quick trip from/to airport with one transfer only. Rooms are clean but the overall feeling is like decaying premises, especially bathroom. In my case substandard cleaning too....

It's a nice small hotel in a very central position of Madrid. We managed to walk nearly to all the sights and barrios we wanted to visit, which was great. It is a bit shabby and worn down for a 4 star hotel and the bathroom doors most definitely need some fixing because there is no privacy at all. Otherwise...

This hotel was just perfect for a city break in Madrid. The room was very clean, very well serviced, and spacious, and, for city hotel, very quiet. In fact, the room was absolutely silent with a view of the hanging gardens of the inner space of the hotel...most unusual. The hotel was excellently located so that all the main attractions...

Great location for a city break as we were able to walk to all the major attractions. The hotel provided everything we needed even though the room lacked space as it was too cold to use the outdoor area.

Nice, clean and well-kept. The staff really took pride in helping their guests! Excellent youghurt at breakfast. Wonderfully firm beds. Great homely atmosphere that really eases the pain with business travel. The central staircase is an architectural hidden gem :)

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
