Had to stay in Room Mate Alicia as an emergency for a night. Apart from the location it doesn't have a lot going on for it. The suite i stayed in had a really cheap, put together in a day sort of feel to it. Painting not done properly, very uncomfortable bed and way too strong air con. On the... More

We arrived at the hotel to be told we were being upgraded to an exterior room. The room was gorgeous with a double bed (two singles pushed together), shower in the room and the toilet behind a sliding door. We were on the 3rd floor and had a good view of the square outside the hotel. We were never bothered... More

Great location within easy walking distance of the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Prado and the Thyssen Bornemisza. Parking available conveniently close by in the municipal lot underneath Plaza Santa Ana (enter from Calle del Prado just across Calle del Principe). Staff were friendly, spoke good English and helped us to make a brunch reservation. Our room on the... More

Room Mate Alicia made our stay unforgettable. Perfect location that allows you to walk to walk everywhere. The room was recently renovated and spotless. Very effective airco system for those overheated days in the summer. We definitely recommend to upgrade to the suite, just a small price difference will allow you to enjoy a spacious room with terrace and pool.... More

We stayed for 3 nights in a room that overlooked a city square. The staff was outstanding, especially Pablo who helped us find a 24 hour pharmacy and a place to get bland food when one of us was sick. We could walk to the Prado and to a lot of interesting restaurants as well as a shopping area. When... More

Stayed here for a short weekend break and would highly recommend. Was a little worried with a couple of reviews stating the hotel was shabby but this was not my experience. The room had an amazing view over looking the square and amazing black out blind for a lazy sleep in? This was great as breakfast was served to 12pm... More

As always a boutique hotel offers everything that you 'need' without services and areas that you pay for but do not need. The rooms are comfortable but quirky, the bathroom is not separated by an actual wall although the toilet hides behind a serviceable mirrored door. Air conditioning for each room, and outer rooms have views. The staff very friendly... More

We booked this hotel the day before and it was in the perfect location and a great value. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Our room was very clean and groovy! Loved the decor and the shower in the room! Really enjoyed our two night stay here. We would definitely come back.

This small quiet hotel is conveniently. located near the Plaza Santa Anna. Ours was a comfortable room with a spacious terrace, but this comes at a cost premium. Free Wifi. Great location near centre of Madrid. Plaza Sol and Plaza Major and the Prado are all within walking distance. The bathroom was a litttle cramped and the water temp difficult... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
