A real pleasure to stay in such a friendly and helpful establishment. From the moment we arrived the staff were absolutely accommodating ensuring all our needs were met. Kettles in the room, Cool water in reception, excellent breakfast, centrally located. Availability of bikes. Everyone from front of house to the cleaners greeted us during our stay. We have stayed in this hotel before. The location is great. Breakfast is fine. There were some problems with our room - floor was dirty, shower filled with water. This is a very good hotel but they need to pay more attention to details on room quality.

The staff was helpful and friendly and we felt very well looked after. The hotel is located in the best position for exploring the centre of Madrid. We were able to walk to most of the points of interest from here. The room was a little small, but we did not mind as everything else was excellent. We hope to... More

Location was fantastic for exploring Madrid. Minutes away from Puerto del Sol & Plaza Mayor, on foot. Very close to Metros. Would highly recommend hop on hop off bus, as Madrid is such a big City & so much to see. The Hotel can organise these tickets for you, 21 Euros for the day. The Hotel was very clean &... More

We spent our first two nights and the last night of our trip at pp plaza del Carmen. The location is wonderful--so good, in fact, that we didn't even need to use the two day tourist metro passes we purchased because everything we wanted to see, museums and major monuments, was an easy 5-20 mins walk from hotel! Rooms were... More

Modern, clean family room (bunk beds for the kids). Centrally located, so everything we did during our 3 night stay was within walking distance. Only downside was the ladies of the night in the next street, but once we realised this and avoided that area, it was fine. No iron / ironing board facilities.

Anyone wanting a great hotel in a central location should call off the search. I stayed here for two nights. A three minute stroll to Sol, you have cafes, eateries and all the attractions on your doorstep. Set just off a main shopping thoroughfare I was a tad concerned it would be noisy at night....but no it was very quiet.... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
