The hotel is located in the city center with close proximity to tourist attractions, shopping and restaurants. The staff is very efficient and helpful and and the room (Junior suite) is very spacious. The snack bar from 2 pm to 10 pm is a great convenience.

Spent one night here after a business conference in a huge anonymous hotel near the airport. Great location for walking around the city. All the main sites are within reasonable walking distance. Very warm welcome by extremely friendly English speaking staff. Good advice re transport back to the airport etc. Very comfortable room, if not huge, but perfectly reasonable size...

From the moment we walked in, we were sold. The bellman and reception desk manager were more than welcoming. We needed help filing a baggage damage claim with airline & Pablo filled out my form online because the form was entirely in Spanish. This is a converted royal residence. Our suite and gorgeous painted ceilings are spectacular. We will return....

Ideal location near the museums and central squares. Friendly service, maps, and sweet little candies. The rooms were comfortable, not large but had all we needed including complementary bottle water and space to put some leftovers in the mini fridge. In the first floor dining room, the choice of free snacks was fabulous. They have mini cold sandwiches, hamburgers (very...

After a terrible first night experience in Madrid (at a different hotel), I booked myself into The Catalonia Las Cortes and felt as though I entered into a peaceful oasis! From the moment I walked into the hotel I was greeted with welcoming smiles from the front desk staff. I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. It was truly...

From start to finish the staff (all of them) were friendly, helpful, courteous, efficient and always on hand if required - in a relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent in all respects with smiles on their faces. It was our anniversary and the hotel more than matched our expectations with an excellent (premium) room which was spacious, clean, very comfortable with...

Excellent weekend stay at this centrally located hotel. In easy walking distance of most attractions. Staff went out of their way to help with restaurant recommendations and reservations and anything else we required. The constant availability of snacks in the afternoon was a real plus.

Catalonia Las Cortes is a lovely hotel in the heart of the 'Las Cortes' part of old Madrid. It's on a quite side street, close to the very lively Plaza Santa Ana, with lovely rooms and excellent, helpful staff. As you'll have read on other reviews, the hotel offers complementary snacks from 1pm till midnight which is a very nice...

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
