Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

We recently stayed at the Mola Suites in Madrid. It’s in a great location - really close to the Plaza del Sol so access to the hop on/off and metro/train is really easy. The apartment was spacious but the kitchen was cramped and had no space to store our own food and didn’t come with a tea towel. The two bedrooms were in the attic so had sloped walls making it impossible for one person to stand up. The walls are thin so if you have noisy neighbours you’ll hear them, but there are rules about early/late noise that helps.

Although the facilities and staff are very kind. The A/C unit in our apartment broke the day before we arrived. Nobody contacted us to let us know. When we checked in they informed us of the situation and it wasn’t possible to be fixed during our stay. The temperature reached 106 degrees Fahrenheit and only dropped down to 90 degrees by 3 am. We were offered complimentary breakfast but the living conditions in the apartment were absolutely unbearable. The management company denied to put us up in a different unit and with 6 travelers was too hard to find a new place to stay the day of. I highly recommend you don’t stay here as the management company provides terrible service. The common area floor -2 was the only place cold enough were we didn’t want to peel off our skin. Absolutely horrendous experience.

Very comfortable stay in heart of Madrid. Cosy apartment with kitchen, washing machine, dish washer etc. Few minor things can be ignored - change of bath towels at cost, cramped reception. Rest all good.

Our family stayed here for 3 nights in the 2 bed apartments. They are spacious, clean and wonderfully quiet. The location is amazing so close to Plaza Mayor, supermarkets and so many places to eat nearby. Air conditioning works well. Dishwasher, washing machine all included in the apartment. I based my decision on other reviews from trip advisor and was happy that I did!

We stayed here for two nights in the Mola apartment for the soccer final. Firstly as mentioned by one review below the hostel is same building as the apartments. There are two different service desks however it was chaos when we arrived and ended up waiting in a long line outside until getting to the desk to be told the apartments check in was on the other side. You can't go through a separate entrance as they use one main entrance. Room- 4/5 big spacious apartment with all your needs fridge/cooking utensils if needed. Noise though you will hear from street and bathroom was a bit small. Staff- they were really friendly and tried to assist where they could no issues there. Location- was easy to get to things by transport and walking.
