First Impression The entrance was almost hidden away along the street and strange to land in a tiny space for checking in. The staff however were very nice and made sure we had our rooms although we checked in early. The rooms are reasonably big and clean and has all the things to made you comfortable in a hotel Parting...

This is a very good base if you are planning to visit Madrid for a spot of shopping, as it offers comfortable, pleasantly furnished, rooms at a good price. The reception is fairly basic and feels rather cramped, but we were met with warmth and check in was handled efficiently. The hotel is perhaps slightly in need of a refurb....

There's no doubt the location is perfect: right in the heart of Madrid's Barrio de Salamanca. The rooms however were slightly run down. The bathroom was not well kept. I did not hear any noises from nearby rooms, which was good. Overall my stay was average/average+ compared to similar hotels in Madrid!

The hotel is perfectly located in the middle of Barrio de Salamanca, probably the most elegant area in Madrid. The hotel is created in an old building. The elevator is a little bit dated. The rooms are comfortable as well as the bathrooms are pretty good. My bathroom was not perfect but ok. Hotel is clean. The breakfast is ok,...

a great hotel for a base. I went with a friend christmas shopping. we had a twin room. the beds were very conformable and the room clean and not too small. there was no view (back of another building) but also no noise. Breakfast was simple and nice, a variety of cheeses cold meats, breads, jams. Also hot sausages, pancakes...

Nice area, friendly staff, but cocktails were overpriced. Would stay again, but not have any cocktails. The fact that it was near Metro and downtown Madrid was a plus. Also, if you are attending a concert at BarcleyCard Center, this is a good place to stay.

Stayed 1 night, hotel was close to my office. Standard room was ok, space was limited. Room service options seemed to be local takeaways which I thought was weird. But I had eaten, so wasn't an issue. Overall it was comfortable and convenient, though I have stayed in nicer hotels in Madrid.

Catalonia Goya is a great hotel in an excellent location- the Salamanca district. Rooms are spacious and comfortable although a little dark. Breakfast ok but not great. Restaurant menu limited and possibly needs more clarity for travellers. My meal was great but my husband's main course turned out to be the size of an appetiser. We would not hesitate to...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
