Lived here for 2 nights on the weekend. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are bright, airy and clean but the beds were noisy in my dorm. They have a decently-priced bar inside the hostel which was packed on Saturday night. The wifi needs frequent re-logins. You can store your luggage in the lockers for 2 euros.... More

I had a great stay at cats hostel. I stayed in a mixed gender dorm with 12 beds, it was very clean and comfortable. They have lockers in the rooms, and you get a wrist watch that unlocks the doors to your room and your locker. The showers were very clean and much nicer than I expected. There are free... More

I came to Madrid for the first time and needed a place to stay. The location is great, very central and easy to get to and from airport. The rooms were clean but a bit noisy at times. The common area is great, very beautiful architecture, if you're into this kind of stuff. Staff was helpful. You got to pay... More

Stayed here last week and I must say its absolutely buzzing. Great bar full of people, fantastic bar crawl and the rooms are air conned and nice. Will definitely stay again when I come back. Dont stay here if you're looking for a quiet stay though.

Very good place, joyful fiestas in the evenings. Very very nice interior. ● WiFi - OK ● Showers/restrooms - OK ● Free breakfast (occasionally) - OK ○ Noise - sometimes too much at midnight from the street.

Great atmosphere and staff, helped with many of the various issues with associated with moving to a new country. Would definitely recommend but have one criticism, the lack of kitchen and food facilites means you have to spend a fortune eating out but that's not really the worst thing ever. All in all great value for money and would go... More

I stayed in Cat's hostel for three night while I was looking for flat in Madrid. The hostel has a great atmosphere, you can meet here people from all around the world. They have breakfast for 2 euros, if is not included in price for your room, and it's really good breakfast for that amount. I stayed in dorm for... More

My first visit to Cat's hostel seemed to really be good. I got in really early in the morning after a terrible ride on the night bus. They made me check in early! (its not until 2 normally) so I could have a shower and get some sleep. The shower however, was cold. Ice cold. The room was icy cold... More

The hostel matches the description accurately which means this is a fun and reasonably priced place to stay while visiting Madrid! What I liked most about the hostel was the bathrooms. Each floor has very large gender specific bathrooms with lots of toilet and shower stalls. You never have to wait in line and they are well maintained by the... More

Only stayed one night but overall a good hostel. Plus points were the cool interior section and glass ceiling, the excellent in room air con and free lockers. The bar area was also very good too, chilled atmosphere and cheap drinks. Downsides were the basic toilet and shower facilities and sterile rooms. Good location and reasonably priced.

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
