In July I booked a 4 night stay at this hotel and paid 514 euros upfront via the hotel website. Our stay was to be in September. Unfortunately a week before travelling I contracted a severe ear infection and was advised by my doctor not to fly. Great disappointment all round as our trip to Madrid/Toledo/Segovia/Avila was a year in...

Stayed at this hotel during a conference. It is 5 mins walk from Plaza de Espana tube station from where you can connect with most of the main tourist attraction in Madrid. The hotel is nice an clean but my room was a bit small. Breakfast was excellent.

Outstanding service. I had an accident one week before we arrive and Pedro Alonso, the manager, helped us to get a handicap room. The breakfast was good as always and front service very friendly. This is out third time and we will come back next year. Thanks a million Pedro Alonso for everything.

Bathroom was not completely clean upon arrival so I had to complain to get it cleaned. Staff at reception not very helpful. Young guy on reception was nice and he was helpful. Room was average. Old furniture. Not really boutique like hotel in comparison to other boutique hotels which have been beautiful. Very average. RUBBISH BREAKFAST - DON'T BOOK B&B

This small hotel is near the Opera metro station and was easy to find. The room was modern and had everything you'd have expected although small. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The web site is misleading about CHECK-IN times. The website says 12 but its really 3pm!!!

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
