The Hostal Dolce Vita is the most perfect way to fall in love with Madrid! The rooms are nice and daily cleaned. The stuff is amazingly friendly and ready to help. The location is just wonderful, right in the heart of the city within walking distance to all places of interest. Two metro stations are just 3 minutes away but... More

Nice Hostal to stay close to everything in Madrid, close to Cibeles, San Anton, Gran Via etc. Nice room facing the street with balcony. Small bathroom. Breakfast included. Leonardo helped us a lot , thanks. Free Wi fi and computer. My only complaint is that its on a fitfh fllor without elevator. Fair Price.

I stayed in this hostel for 2 nights in a single room, without ensuite. The room had a sink, TV, a fan (very important in Madrid from June-August!) and faced onto the street with a little tiny balcony, with 2 doors to (I presume) prevent noise from coming in. The shared bathroom was always clean and I never had a... More

I had asked for a quiet twin room, and I was surprised that it was so quiet very close ti the city center. Breakfast was also very good, and the staff went out of their way to find solutions to deal with our problems. Everything was nice and clean.

Location is about the only good thing. It can get noisy though because there are several bars right outside the hotel and people are partying until 4-5 am. The room was okay. Breakfast not too much of a selection and the dining room was very small so I actually ate in the lobby near the brochures one morning and got... More

I loved my sweet hippie pad of a room here right down to the trio of neon daisies over the bed. In an elegant old building off Gran Via, up 4 well worn flights of stairs this is a simple budget pension not luxe but fun. Limited hours checkin, no staff at night so more for independent travelers. A simple... More

I spent 7 nights in The Hostal Dolcevita and was very pleased I did, the room was comfortable with en-suite, it was also very clean, the staff were excellent, the breakfast each morning was also very good, its hard to believe it is so central, my only gripes are the STAIRS I think i counted 62 to reception/room, also that... This review is based on expectations for a value hotel. The hotel was safe, clean, had a friendly staff, good location, an OK breakfast, and workable internet, all the basics. You do have to go up alot of stairs to the Hostal, and the decor was a little different. I like the hostal and will stay there again.

Good/okay: -Facilities, TV, shower room, shower gel/shampoo, heating (except room lighting is a bit dark) -Staff are friendly -Location is good. -Convenience stores/ indoor food markets are near the hostel. -Price is quite cheaper than other hostels. Not okay: -My room is quite noisy because perhaps these days were holiday and facing to the back lane. -Wifi is slow and... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.

Relax in the chirpy bedrooms of the Dolce Vita. Bright colours will lift your mood and quirky lamps mounted on the walls will create a warm, tinted glow. Corridors are illuminated with heart-shaped lights and the impressive staircase is adorned with fresh plants. The Dolce Vita is housed within a building typical of Madrid with wooden beams, attractive sloped ceilings, floor-length French windows and pretty balconies overlooking the streets. ... more   less
