Good/okay: -Facilities, TV, shower room, shower gel/shampoo, heating (except room lighting is a bit dark) -Staff are friendly -Location is good. -Convenience stores/ indoor food markets are near the hostel. -Price is quite cheaper than other hostels. Not okay: -My room is quite noisy because perhaps these days were holiday and facing to the back lane. -Wifi is slow and... More

Hostal Dolcevita is in a central position, 2 minutes from Gran Via and 5 from Sol, in a quiet street of the gay district, where the night life is calm and friendly. The Hostal is on the third floor of a pretty old building without elevator (this is the only discomfort). I found it very original and cosy, colorful and... More

Dolce Vita is located in Madrid's gay neighbourhood which is right in the heart of the city. It has easy access to Gran Via, the metro station and many bus stops which you can use to navigate across the city. The area has tons of eateries, bars and pubs. Party goers throng the lanes but that causes no inconvenience to... More

Overall a centrally located place with adequate accommodations. I was in a single self-contained room-very quaint and had everything I needed. The hostal was very quiet which was a bonus. As many people have mentioned the stairs are quite a nuisance if you have a good amount of luggage. The gent at the reception was very helpful in assisting me... More

I stayed in this hostel for one night on my way to a business trip to Albacete. The location of the hostel is very convenient in a gay neighbourhood with heaps of nice bars. The hostel is located on the third floor and is a bit hard to find. There is no elevator, so not ideal of you are physically... More

Situated in Chueca and above two gay clubs, I came prepared with two bags of earplugs expecting a bit of night time noise. Completely unnecessary. Room 403 gets absolutely no street noise at all. The clientele range from single people to young families. Quiet people but very thin walls. The centrally located hostal/hostel is only a few minutes walk from... More

You get more than you pay! The hostel is charming, the owner was really nice and welcoming (he even gave us a room + bathroom, when our booking was for a room without it), good price (36 euros!) and great breakfast. From now on this is gonna be our hostel in Madrid for sure!!! <3

When I booked the hostal, I was directly asking for the drawback, as I found the price incredibly reasonable. And now, after my stay, I can honestly say, that there was none, Ignacio was right ;-) Unless, you expect a modern 4-stars-hotel with all the luxuries, you might (eventually) find some - but honestly, if you go in this kind... Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
