The appartments are very well located, the interior is what you expect from the price. The breakfast was nothing more than a small croissant and orange juice. The room was cleaned every day, the beds were horrible.

We had a twin roomed studio with on suit and firdge with two ringed eletric hob. The place was reasonably clean although the bathroom we had was a bit tired to say the least but for whatn we were paying you canot expect the Ritz. There is a nice place to eat across the road Tasca La Farmacia as well... More

We stayed here for a football city break, it was roughly a 30 minute wander to Real Madrid and between two streets of high end shopping. There were two metro stations nearby offering transportation to Athletico Madrid and the sights of the city centre. Because the address was Diego de Leon we got the Metro to Diego de Leon station... The place is grotty, dirty, in a bad state of repair. I could go on but you get the point. We stayed for one night of a 4 night stay. I was having a shower and my girlfriend was doing her hair when the cleaning staff arrived to clean the room. my girlfriend asked them to come back in a... More

Location was great, and overall very clean. Downsides: staff doesn't speak English well. Apartment is clearly old. Heating/ac cannot be changed so I was a bit cold at night, and getting an extra blanket was difficult. The wifi connection is quite poor so I wouldn't recommend buying it (€6 p day or €20 for the week) unless you need it.... More

It is reasonably well located, but other then that is not a good place to stay. The apartment I stayed was old, very used and all around unpleasant to stay there. Due to its proximity to a bar, the street gets rowdy at night and there is barely any sound proofing what so ever and it is hard to rest... More

Well, after reading all the reviews for Orion online, we knew what to expect. Basic, clean room with hotel centrally located. Location was really nice, quiet both during the day and night but still very central, approximately 10minutes by walk from the very city centre of Madrid. The only problem here is, I would say, that none of receptionist does... More

Good choice if you want cheap room with no frills. Breakfast was simple but filling, usual toast, pastries, cornflakes, OJ, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. It was a 10 min walk from centre of Madrid and was quiet. No english spoken by staff, so we used sign language!

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
