I would never recommend anyone to stay here if they have the opportunity to go from Adolfo Suárez straight to your (more) centrally located hotel. But if you, like us, arrive too late to catch a metro to the center, and would prefer to not...More
The Don Luis is well placed for getting to/from Madrid AIrport. The 101 bus stop is a two minute walk in a nearby square and the bus takes 5 minutes to Terminals 1,2 and 3. Some lovely restaurants in the same square.

If you are looking for a night before or after a flight, right close to the airport, this "does the job" at a reasonable price. Nice building, friendly desk, great neighborhood for snacks and drinks outside at any time, and in our room anyway updated...More
We were tucked away on the fourth floor in a remote corner of the building. Having said that: there was nothing wrong with the room itself. Spacious, clean and with a good bathroom. Service at front desk exceptional. Very swift check-in despite uncertainty about the...More
We stayed here for a night en route to Venice via Madrid airpor which is a few minutes from the hotel.
The accommodation is basic but very clean.
Beds were comfortable.
The rooms are traditional Spanish which are a bit outdated - the telly certainly...More

I don't know what Eros is talking about. This hotel is near the airport. The city center of Madrid is many miles away.....but you can easily take the Metro. Eros might have confused the hotel, because I did see the name pop up on a map of downtown; what is shown on the accompanying map, though, is the airport hotel.
If you are staying just one night, it will be hard to see much of Madrid. But you could take the Metro "downtown" and go to the Plaza Mayor and/or a nearby tapas bar and maybe get a feel for the city. Depending on your flight times/energy/interests, maybe you could pack in the Prado Museum, but that's pushing it.
If not, the neighborhood near the hotel is very Madrid itself. This is not like staying at an "airport hotel" away from everything. You are right in the heart of a real neighborhood with lots of local restaurants, outdoor cafes, stores, etc. Yet, close to the airport.
I do not think the Hotel has a shuttle to the airport. Take metro or taxi.
We parked in a big empty lot for free, less than two blocks from hotel. Ask at the front desk. She said that's where she parks. Parked there overnight and it seemed safe :) .
