Great hotel right in the city centre on Gran Via. Good sized rooms with AC, free wifi and many with small balconies. No swimming pool. Great staff who were very knowledgeable, spoke good English and happy to help. Very comfortable rooms with mini bar. Great beds, bathroom and toiletries. No tea / coffee facilities in the rooms we had. We... More

Stayed here for just one night in August with my partner and my son. We booked a triple room and were advised check in time of 14:00. Arriving at 8am from Palma we were told that they'd try and have the room ready earlier - and it was ours within the hour. Brilliant - as it was a hot, humid... More

We booked a fabulous room in this hotel - one with a roof top terrace and jacuzzi which was so refreshing in the blistering August heat. Room Very clean, contemporary and light. Everything you'd expect in a hotel of this star rating. The breakfast was a bit basic and frankly disappointing. If it hadn't have been included in our room... More

The Iberostar in Madrid was absolutely lovely! Our party of eight agrees that the accommodations were exceptional, the location great and the staff very friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast which had fresh fruit, breads, jams, churros, and all that you need for a special breakfast. Our rooms felt like a suite..very large and spacious with balconies overlooking the street! Great... More

We had the most fabulous 4 nights at this hotel. We booked the terrace jacuzzi room, with it being mid August, this was well used! 40-odd degrees each day and clear blue skies. The jacuzzi was most welcome after a long day visiting the sites. The hotel staff were absolutely excellent, especially Pablo who checked us in along with another... More

The reception personnel were so nice and friendly and all the procedures were ready and done in no time... Something you rarely experience in other hotels. The room was was spacious and very clean, and very comfortable with a view on the main street. We made it a point to return again after finishing our tour in Spain... The welcome... More

The Hotel is centrally located and the best place to stay if you wish to move around. The Hotel is clean and service is very good. The receptionist Canadas went out of his way to direct us to the must visit areas and restaurants as well. The two restaurants that you must visit are the Restaurant Botin ( just near... More

Great place for a long weekend. Very good breakfast to start the day and, you can finish your busy day with a nice drink on the roof terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff. We are thinking about coming back. August seems to be a great time for a visit.

Your front desk agent El Moktar was absolutely wonderful during my stay. He went out of his way to help my family and I with all of our travel plans and any questions I had. I would recommend this hotel based on his attentiveness and excellent hospitality!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this very well appointed hotel. I was impressed with everything about it, and especially loved the old historic features, such as the old lift and surrounds that decorate the stairwell. The location meant I could walk everywhere and enjoy a 'slow' view of all the wonderful historic buildings on Gran Via and beyond. Staff... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
