The service is excellent, all the staff nice and welcoming. The room is bigger than it seems in the picture, and it's very clean! The location is the main reason why we booked the hotel, and it really great. In the middle of the gran via. The is a big selection at breakfast. Very recommended!!

The hotel has an excellent location in the Gran Via and is a short walk to the world class Prado, Thyssen Bornemisza and Reina Sofia Museums as well as important sites such as the Puerta del Sol, fine restaurants and shops. The Madrid Hop On Hop Off Ruta 1 has a stop opposite the hotel on the other side of... More

We stayed twice (5 nights in total) while exploring the region. Both times we were upgraded to a suite. I really liked the decent sized twin beds. The spacious rooms were tastefully furnished with great view of Gran Via,but with well sound proofed windows. We were on upper floors, the traffic noise may be more audible on lower floors. The hotel staff... More

We were excited for our Superior Double Room with Terrace. Sadly, in spite of the clever poetry inscribed on the wall of our room, the ambience was IKEA-kids-room-turned-guestroom. Modern furnishings don't have to feel so insubstantial: the bedside table shouldn't move when bumped, and the bathroom garbage bin shouldn't tip over when opened with the foot pedal. But, the worst... More

Stayed at this hotel for 7 days and loved it. Very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast was also good, would not recommend it since restaurant are near to hotel. Go out and try a new one everyday. Laundry service was impressive. On the main road in Madrid everything is close by.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in August as recommended by our travel agent. Our reservation included continental breakfast each day. The room and bathroom were larger than we expected. The gym had more equipment options than most hotel gyms (bosu ball, stability bar, kettle bells, TRX, pull up/tricep dip bars, a few cardio machines, barbells). The... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in a double room with a terrace. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom has two sinks which was a nice luxury. The terrace, whilst too hot to enjoy in the afternoon and most of the evening, was lovely. The roof terrace bar, whilst a little pricier than other bars in Madrid,... More

Sometimes finding a hotel in the heart of any big city with friendly staff is difficult. Iberostar Las Letras Gran Via was expectional. It is ideally located a block away from Puerta del Sol, full of shops, transportation and restaurants. Would go back

Good accomodation for business travel. Central situation. Good breakfast. Nice team. But the hotel is noisy - well the city is noisy, so... Gives no wow effect. sounds quite practical for a short stay.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
