Pros: It is conveniently located in the heart of Madrid. I felt my important personal belongings were safe as the lockers are massive, big enough to fit a carry-on and then some. Great A/C which is important in the blazing summers. Cons: First, it is so noisy on the street all night (and if your room is near the bathrooms).... More

The Good: A few blocks away from SOL Metro Station (5-7 min. walking), bracelet system opens everything from front door to locker, receptionists are helpful, cheap The Bad: Very noisy street (from midnight until 7am, so sleeping is impossible), the tiny window must be open in order to ventilate (otherwise you would succumb to the smell (room mates and their... good value for tight budget with breakfast. No complain stayed only one night. The location is not bad walking distance in Sol and other tourist areas. Though i need to go down in the first floor to take a bath and comfort room.

We had some problems with the booking.com. We were 2 guys and 2 girls travelling together, but the booking.com selected 4 girls beds (i don't know how/why). One of the girl arrived earlier and the rest of us arrived pretty late. The staff listened to us and understood our little issue and helped us stay in 1 room together. They... More

Very nice area! Its not expensive and absolutely central. I felt comfortable since the first moment. The bathroom was clean and they have air conditioner in the room. You have also a breakfast room, where you can cook or spend time with some nice guys

Clean and simpatique hostel, with young people. Clean rooms and bathroom, hot water, and breakfast -not the best one, but it was OK-. Very well situated, at a few blocks of Sol and of Prado Museum. Nice restaurants and bars nearby!

Close to center of attractions with very good wifi. The AC stops after some time automatically makes difficult to sleep. The reading light was not working. Wash rooms and toilets are reasonably clean but there are ample scope for improvement.

Surprisingly cheap for what you get. I regret not staying longer. Locations fantastic and in the heart. Very nice venue decent enough outdoor area. Nice kitchen decent rooms. We stayed in a 12 bed mixed Dorm and it was surprisingly good with great lockers, and spaced out not to over crowded. Great bathrooms. Everything was very clean. Host didn't really... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Posada de Huertas is in an ideal location in central Madrid, situated between the museums and the main shopping and nightlife district. Hostelworld guests have told us 'the location is fantastic; you can walk around to all the attractions if you want' and 'you can get to the heart of all nightlife in Sol in less than 10 minutes' from here. We like that the hostel has events happening nearly every day, with highly-praised entertaining and informative free walking tours and 'enough good common areas and activities to help you get to know Madrid' ... more   less
