The Hotel Urban was a great find and after reading many reviews, most people have this hotel spot on. Its centrally located to the main tourist locations in Madrid. You can easily walk around to the large amount of good and bad (large chain) tapas bars and even take a stroll along Gran Via for some shopping. The rooms are dark (as many reviews have mentioned) but still exceptionally enjoyable. We booked one of the suites which came with the glass enclosed bathroom and its curved wall making the couch and TV area a little seperate from the bed (just as they show in the picture via the hotel website). The bathroom was a nice touch, but the shower was a bit of a letdown. It reminded me of a 2 star hotel with its plastic shower frame, and would have been nice to have a luxury touch since the entire bathroom was on display (quite strange). The staff were brilliant, check in was a breeze and the staff on the door are helpful, friendly and just supurb. On the rooftop is a small but enjoyable swimming pool (good luck getting a sunbed around the pool as the 7 or 8 that are there go quickly). This is nice in the summer of Madrid as not many hotels have pools. There is also a bar on the rooftop and some outdoor seating - which is brilliant to enjoy the hot sunny days in Madrid. Overall we would recommend this hotel if you want a luxury, affordable, and close to the city hotel.

My four days at the Urban hotel was pleasant. The bed was comfortable, the room had everything I needed and the hotel staff was attentive. The hotel is a short walk from the Sol subway station and near several good restaurants. My favorite was an Argentine steak house a few doors away from the hotel.

It's a very nice hotel. Excellent, 5 star gourmet restaurant and a nice bar that serves interesting seafood tapas. Rooms are very clean, the service staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The only thing I didn't like was the lighting system in the rooms. Instead of just switches, there were panels that had about five options for lighting. I just wanted to turn on the lights and all the options seemed to be a bit excessive for a weary traveler trying to put my lights on. The shower was a little bit difficulty as well. There are three big knobs to work to get the shower engaged. It was way too much of a test after a long day. I just wanted to turn on the water and take a shower, turning the shower off was just as much a problem. On the positive side the bath rooms are beautiful with frosted glass and modern fixtures. An outstanding surprise was a little box of melt in your mouth house made chocolates that were beyond anything in the chocolate family I every had. I like the place, just would need to come in well rested to work the lights and shower.

We visited the roof bar with friends today - half the group were upstairs and there was plenty of room but a very rude member of staff stopped three of our friends from joining the others. He literally told them to get out of the lift. They bought drinks in the downstairs bar whilst they waited but were then not allowed to take them upstairs. Once upstairs, the bar staff were awful. No hello, no thank you just terrible service. This place is pretentious and I would avoid at all costs.

Everything about this hotel is brilliant. The staff, the facilities, the food and the rooms are excellent. From the moment we arrived to the hotel the staff made us feel so welcome and this continued throughout the stay. The rooms are spacious, the mini bar is complementary, the TV has chrome cast and the bed is very comfortable. The hotel is in walking distance from everything we wanted to do too so we did not have to get any metros/taxis. The rooftop bar is a lovely place to relax also, although in the winter season the pool is closed and the entire rooftop is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Every other day it is open from 1pm-9pm. However this did not impact our stay at all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Madrid!

Dear Amy, Thank you for this excellent review of your recent stay at Hotel Urban, We are delighted that you had a pleasant stay and that our quality rooms met all your expectations. It is really rewarding to receive your feedback about our team members who work hard to ensure that every guest has a great experience and we are grateful for your kind recommendation. We regret that on this trip you were unable to use our outdoor rooftop pool, we are unfortunately subject to municipal regulations concerning seasonal pools which only allows them to be opened from mid-May to mid-September. Hopefully, you will be able to have a dip in the pool and a refreshing drink at our rooftop bar on your next visit. All of the team hopes to see you again soon. Kind regards, Antonio Martín, Deputy Manager
