Neighborhood
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.

This is a beautiful hotel with helpful and warm staff. Although used only one time, the terrace and pool area are highly attractive and a wonderful place to relax at. The location is excellent. Highly recommended.

We had a very nice time in the Urban Hotel. The location is excellent, even though there is nothing immediately below the hotel shopping or attraction wise. Some people who are more into just a shopping trip may want to be closer to Sol. Location wise, the hotel is 5 minute walk from Sol, 10 minutes from Mercado San Miguel, 15 minutes from Royal Palace, 5 min walk from Prada museum. In fact, except for going to a Real Madrid game, we walked all the time as Madrid is very small. Hotel was very elegant, but very dark, gothic kind of decor which is not for everyone. No view to speak of in our room, but facilities were very good. Rooms were very nice with a super comfortable bed, great towel and bath set with all what you would expect from a 4-5 star hotel. Hotel is home to a Michelin star restaurant, Cebo, and another restaurant Glass which also looks good. Staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive...even though one day they forgot to make up our room, which happens. Definitely recommend the hotel.

The hotel Urban is a very cool and chic hotel located in the center of Madrid in a perfect location which walking distance to everything. The Prado is only 500m away and if you walk around the back of the hotel you have all of the small backstreets and squares where all of the restaurants, cafes and small shops are located. The hotel itself is very modern and cool. The standard rooms are little bit narrow but they have good storage and excellent facilities and a comfy bed. There is a small pool on the roof which catches the afternoon sun (quick note to management on this pool, it is so cold!!! perhaps you could heat it a little!!). Overall this is a great hotel in a great location and would definitely return to this hotel when I come to Madrid next.
