We stayed here for 4 nights in Sept 2016. Booked standard room with booking.com which included breakfast. We arrived early and had to wait for a room to be available with double bed. Changed room after it became available because it was first floor facing the street and we could hear vehicles outside so i asked for higher or interior... More

Hotel is approx. an hour by train from Madrid airport, costing 5 euros one way or 30 euros by taxi and a 25 minutes journey. Located 4 minutes walk from Sol station. It is directly in the shopping street. Hotel is traditionally designed. The rooms are medium sized and quite spacious but basic. Bathroom is quite modern with a power... More

Brilliant location, close to Puerta del Sol and the main shopping district. Lots of tourist attractions are a stone's throw away, as is Callao metro station (lines 5 and 3). Gran Via and Sol metro stations are also close by. My room (booked at short notice due to Lowcostholidays' collapse grrr) was on the small side but perfectly comfortable and... More

We stayed a week. We were very grateful for the concierge who helped us locate museums and negotiate the city. It was a lovely hotel with a first rate restaurant where we had a perfect meal. It was quiet and we enjoyed the catty corner neighborhood bar across the street where we could just chill. A short wonderful walk to... More

This hotel has a crazy price policy I booked to stay in July 2016 through Bookings.com and paid 130 Euros per night with Breakfast not included. My sister booked using bookings.com from Spain and paid 70 Euros including breakfast. When I questioned reception they were quite arrogant and on checkig since what their pricing is it still sits at more... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
