This hostal is just a few metres from the famous Puerta del Sol where everything is happening. Nearby, you can find anything you wish for: bars, restaurants, stores, the Parliament... :) The rooms of the hostal are spacious, with basic equipment but clean. In the bathroom there was a bathtub with good water pressure. The staff is polite & helpful....

We, 4 friends, stayed here in a quadruple for a long, football based weekend. As a two star hostal you don't expect all the bells and whistles and although fairly basic this fitted us perfectly. A clean quiet room, with comfortable beds and centrally located. Five minutes from Sol and the perfect base for exploring the city. The wifi was...

Very nice hostal in good location. Room was new, quiet and clean. Only sad thing was outdoor which was always locked and I didn't get inside night time. Absolutely can recommend this place for anyone!

The room was clean and quite spacious, the location was good, but be warned that the soundproofing was really not good. The door to the room had gaps that let in light and noise from the hall, and the walls are very thin.

Spent a night here in May in the centre of Madrid and everything is reachable from here either by foot or Metro. Clean, friendly and comfy beds. Try the tapas bars and restaurants in the back streets,

We needed a room in Madrid for just one night before heading for Avila next morning. We were looking for a cheap accomodation with 24h reception and close to metro station - Hostal Aguilar met the criteria. Got the room no 132. Twin although we asked for double when booking. We did want to spend time on exchanging rooms in...

Cheap, clean and close to everything! Staff are very accommodating and friendly. There are signs in English as well for those who don't speak the language. This is my second visit to Madrid, the last being in 2011 and the service has not changed and the counter staff remember you!! Only a short stroll to the Puerta del Sol and...

Good family run hostel. Helpful staff. Central location, can walk anywhere. Good eateries within walking distance. Very clean and efficient for a one person traveler. Could rest very well. The photos are not what you will find but what you find is acceptable.

I was in this Hostal with my friends. We had a room for 3 person, big enough to stay in confortable, tidy and clean.Just bathroom was quite small and very close to one bed. The hostal is central: you can reach by walking the most attractives of Madrid and, in night, you can find party very close!

The hostal is very close to centrum and it's very nice. The rooms are a bit small but that's okay. The breakfast is actually quite okay for a hostal so that was great. However the walls are SOOOO thin. Litterally you can hear so much throw them. However my neighbors on both side is my friends so that's okay. My...

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
