Room was small but location was good, with not reliable security control. My bag was open during their storing service after checking out. My baggage was placed along a public corridor out of sight, where any passing persons could touch freely.

Location of this property is near perfect. It's 2 min. walk from the Opera, 5 min. walk from the Royal Palace and Sol Square. Staff was very helpful and hospitable. Room was clean, cozy and quiet, despite protesters marching just in front of the building.

The receptionists are kind, friendly and helpful. The rooms are small, but clean and enough for rest. Close to metro stations Puerta de Sol and Opera. Plaza Mayor and many cool places in Madrid. Great free WiFi, excellent place for overnight stay.

Great hostel, perfect location, good value, small but clean room, ideal for sightseeing. Close to Opera metro, so easy to access from airport by metro. A lot of nice places to eat. Close to Gran Via shopping street.

I did not know where to stay when I booked my overnight stay in Madrid. I had never been to Madrid and did not know how central it would be. I read other reviews about this Hostal. They all said it was central in Madrid and that the place was difficult to find. It was true that the Hostal was...

Walking around for an hour in Madrid looking for this place is not my cup of tea. It was hard to find because there is no sign above the door and it is anonymous. The room was small and very hot, the air conditioning was inadequate. However, it was conveniently located for restaurants and shopping. I wouldn't have chosen to...

Service was very good. The room was too small for two people. Location is very good! We liked the surroundings of Las Fuentes. It was difficult to find out that there was a hostel outside in that address. There is no sign written in the outside door.

This clean friendly hotel in the middle of Madrid. Close Mercado San Miguel and the opera and walking distance to La Latina and Plaza Mayor. Surrounded by lots of Tapas bars and restaurants. Value for money recently refurbished. A great place to stay

Really nice room but the best its its location: really close to the city center. You can walk to a lot of Madrid's center landmarks. The airconditioner is nice and the facilities great. Really eas to check in and out. Nice and kind personel. The price is not low, but it is lower than other options, event worst options, in...

I used to stay at this small hotel (not to be confused with a youth hostel) all the time when I was a student in Spain. On my most recent trip, I chose it again, since I have always been satisfied and you cannot beat the price/ location. It's very easy to find arriving via metro or Cercanias train -...

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
