We stay in Madrid twice a year as we love it, this time we stayed for the first time in the petit palace cliper... It was a great location for everywhere we wanted to go ... Off gran via but down a little side street so not noisy... Our room was a little tired but comfortable and clean, wifi was... More

Central location Very close to Gran Via / Main Street, close to the Airport coach( 10 min by fot) (and only 5 Euros). Fair price for the room(less than 50% of the price for an equivalent room in Stockholm) a room, clean and good beds. Silent even if you have a room at the street side.

This hotel does not match the pictures on the website at all. First, our room was so small, although it was supposed to be a double, we couldn't move around the room at all. The room was hot, apparently they turn off the air conditioning in the fall despite the 30 degree temperature. We opened the window only to find... More

the positives - location certainly. The room was ok but a bit tired. What did bug me was that the shower door was broken - so water just sprayed out onto floor. The hotel was aware of this, and waiting for correct part to fix. But then I would question why they put me into this room in the first... More

On arrival we were checked in very promptly. Family room for a family of 5 was very spacious over two levels,2 bathrooms which was a bonus. Beds were very comfortable. Room a little tired which I was expecting from prior reviews. Improvements being made next year I believe. 2 mins walk from 2 metro stations ,3 metros required from the... More

The hotel was right in the heart of city centre. Nice clean rooms, comfortable beds. Walls had no insulation against noise so we could hear our neighbours. Quite expensive to park in public car park but close by and hotel gives discount from 30euros per day 25euros. We booked through Hotels.com which gave price in US$, as we are Australia... More

Though the building work opposite didn't help the views, the hotel is in a great central location with the metro, buses and city tour buses all close by if you don't want to walk. The rooms are quite small but clean, well maintained and comfortable. The shower was good but somewhat of a challenge trying to set the appropriate water... More

Nice hôtel with very kind staff. They offer free tour guides of the city which was very interesting. Breakfast was included and there was a great variety of food. It is a very quiet room but sometimes we hear the others talking in the rooms besides. Overall, a perfect place to stay within walking distance of great landmarks.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
