I booked the Petit Palace Ducal Chueca because I know the brand and it's a good hotel chain to stay in the past. I have to say that the staff and the hotel were great! The location is perfect for seeing the highlights of Madrid. I was disappointed with the WiFi reception as my room had spotty reception. Otherwise a... More

I really enjoyed our first stay in a Petit Palace hotel in Madrid which was near Plaza Mayor, so decided to try another one for our next city break, this time near Chueca. At first I was slightly disappointed, not by the room position as we were allocated room 606 with a large outside terrace, but by the interior decoration... More

The hotel is excellent in all respects except for the need of a major refurbishment. My room was a mixture of modern fittings (e.g. the shower) and dated items needing replacement. The actual building is impressive and with refurbishment the hotel will command a premium price. The staff are friendly, welcoming and impressive. The location is ideal for enjoying the... More

I arrived early and normally we must pay additional fee for that reason but the receptionist was very kind and let me get into my room. The room was clean but they need to be more careful because i found some broken pieces of glasses on the floor but well it can happen. Not really noisy at all and close... More

A great thing about Madrid is that you have so many choices when it comes to accommodations. This hotel is "cute" and in a cool shopping district. If you don't mind the potential for a surrounding party atmosphere this hotel is perfect. Rooms are small but one can request to view their room before accepting it. Also, i would view... More

(+) Excellent location: 5 seconds to Gran Via. We got a really quiet room on the 6th floor facing back yard. The room and the bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was all right. The building is old and has a charming old style elevator with iron gates. Hotel admits pets. (-) Our room was a tiny one where the bathroom... More

Stayed here for a weekend because our normal hotel was booked out and I don't think I will repeat. Rooms were tiny, so tiny that the bathroom door (see through door, by the way) would knock with the bed when open. Very noisy as well, you could perfectly hear what was going on out in the corridor or in the... More

Great location, the metro stop is right around the corner and the staff was excellent. Only item I would change would be the availability of an iron for guests. This seemed to be common in all 5 hotels we used while in Spain.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
