We (my wife, sister and brother in law) stayed here for a long weekend. The location was perfect for us, in the centre of Madrid. Rooms were clean, and all of the basics were covered well. There's a daily cleaner, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, towels, toiletries and 24 hour access. No breakfast, but plenty of choices nearby. Stay here if you... More

My wife and I stayed here during our first few days in Spain. We arrived late in the evening and were checking in during and the Madrid and Valencia soccer game for the championship . Despite this the clerk made us feel welcome and took us a cross the street to the room, just as Madrid scored the only goal... More

I had booked the hotel through Booking.com, and then I had to cancel my trip. The ad of the Hotel tells on the front page: FREE CANCELLATION, and nearby: BOOK NOW AT THIS GREAT PRICE< AND YOU CAN CANCEL LATER. So I had booked 2 rooms, and when I decided to cancel, it turned out they charge the whole price,... More

The deal was supposed to come with a 67% price reduction but on arrival I found that my single room with supposed single bed actually had a "bunk bed" folded over the top...see pic attached. It was very uncomfortable - I couldn't prop pillows up against wall to watch TV or read a book because of the big gap. Unfortunately... More

We arrived here at about 9pm. There was a group of 8 ladies in front of us and a couple. We were waiting 30 minutes to check in! When we arrived at the desk, the guy asked us actually to hold on while he showed the previous couple to their room. There was no information as to the hotel, and... More

I made a booking to stay for 4 nights at this hostel. Closer to my visit, I found more suitable accommodation and cancelled the accommodation (meeting the cancellation date Eastern Time - not realizing it was meant to be Madrid time - missed it by 2 hours). I called to explain the situation, and the person who answered the phone... More

Excellent location, right near the subway station, great staff, clean and comfortable both bedroom and bathroom, no complaints at all. We went as a group of friends on a business trip and the hostal's location was perfect to enjoy simultaneously Madrid's restaurants and nightlife.

Stayed 3 days end of March with two teen kids and enjoyed it. Service was correct, had no problems. Check-in and check-out needs pre-coordination. The room was for 4 with bathroom. It was clean and pleasant, properly equipped. If you get one facing the firewall (without balcony), will be silent, providing good sleep, though preventing from ventilation. Ours should have... First time visiting Madrid. The hostel was located 2 minutes from Sol in a great location within a short walk of Gran Via too. The quality of the rooms was excellent and the service from the staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend as a reasonably prices option with quick links on foot or by Metro to many of... Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
