We caught the airport bus into Madrid and this hotel is two minutes walk from where the bus terminates at the main railway station. The room we had was enormous (after the tiny rooms in Seoul) and could have slept four. There were plenty of places to eat nearby and despite the fact that it was Saturday night, the room... More

Very basic accommodation but air conditioning works better than Hotel Artrip Madrid. Across from Puerta de Atocha train staion. Convenient after our Andalucia trip and before flying home. Much needed renovation can upgrade hotel from two stars to four stars.

Stayed here for one night before onward travel by rail. Great location for railway station Atocha. Room was fine; very clean if a little dated. Sound proofing from traffic was good. Buffet breakfast was good value and served up until 1100. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

the room was clean, cool, and quiet - good value. It is very well-placed if you are planning to travel from Barajas airport to Toledo, as there is a cheap public service bus direct from Terminal 1 Barajas to Atoche train Station

I stayed here two nights at the end of a group tour in Spain. The location is wonderful, close to museums, the Atocha station and within walking distance of various sites. One can partake of food and drink at tables right outside at the front of the hotel. My room was small and the bathroom cramped but it was clean... More

The hotel is in a great area,it was very clean, rooms were lovely and only a 5 minute walk to the train station. We didn't find anywhere in the hotel to have coffee but there are lots of lovely little restaurants out the front of the hotel to have coffee or breakfast Etc.The pic I've attached was taken from our room.

Pros: Terrific location; literally right across the street from Atocha train station, which is easy to get to from either the airport or the Chamartin train station. 10 minute walk to Museo del Prado, and close to restaurants. From my 5th floor window I had fabulous views of the Square, and Museo Sofia. You can open the doors and sit... More

I wanted something inexpensive near Atocha station, and found this little gem. The staff was friendly and helpful, with excellent English. My room had an awesome view of plaza with its fountains and statues -- this meant lots of light if I didn't draw both sets of drapes, but there wasn't any noise. Bed was comfortable, AC could control temperature... More

Recently in Europe and first hotel stay here at Hotel Mediodia. A great location - as it was very central - next to the train station and close walking distance to the metro station. Behind the hotel was the Reina Sofia (the museum that holds Picasso's Guernica!) Easy walking distance to the Prado Museum, about 20 minute walk to Plaza... More

We stayed here for one night before continuing our journey from Atocha station that is very close by. The hotel is pretty reasonable. Our room was a good size although rather sparsely furnished. Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
