If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. However, I will stay here again because of the location...our room balcony faced Puerta del Sol. And while the room was very basic, it was also very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not included in our rate, but that was fine with us, as there was a... More

Location, service, and clean. This hotel is in a central location with exceptional service provided by the front desk staff. We loved the restaurant recommendations they suggested and were very helpful when we needed help to get around Madrid. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Perfect location in the heart of Madrid. You step right out into a lively square with plenty of shops and cafes. Also very close to the subway. We also took the free walking tour with Madride Tours which I would highly recommend.

Good sized room and bathroom, kept really nicely. Staff were super friendly and despite being on a Main Street no sound issues at all. I booked it originally for the excellent location and was really pleased at how easy it was to get around from there.

The location is excellent near everything, metro ,train stations and walking distance to the airport bus with many affordable restaurants for breakfast or lunch around the area the room was small and hard to move with all the luggage in the room and if you went shopping no room at all. Conditioning and mini bar and TV are available and the... More

We were very pleased to find this hotel. We would highly recommend it. The front desk staff was very helpful on several occasions and offered a great lunch recommendation of Gloria's a short walk away. We also had a great gazpacho special.

Very good hotel comfortable, good looking, good service and a great location just on plaza del sol. A minute from everywhere, by foot!spotless! 2 thins to point out: 1. there are reconstruction jobs just next to the hotel and you might get noise from the plaza,so you should consider either asking for a back room,or closing the windows ( with... The Europa is located right in the heart of Madrid and is real close to the Sol Metro station. It is a good base from which to visit the city. The rooms and bathrooms are a good size with all of the modern conveniences. The Wi-Fi worked great. The food in their restaurant was good. On top of all that... More

Stayed here for one night before moving on to a different destination. Really pleased with my stay. It was excellent value especially given the very central location. The staff were very professional, polite and efficient. The room and bathroom were both a good size and my room had a window onto the central atrium/courtyard with pretty flowery window boxes. Very... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
