We arrived much earlier than anticipated but were warmly welcomed and assured our room was ready for us. The room had a balcony overlooking Puerta del Sol and gave us a wonderful panorama of the activity in the square and surrounding area. The room offered a true queen bed, flat screen tv, free WIFI, a digital safe that was large...

When i walked into the lobby, I realized i had selected this hotel for a previous niece/nephew trip - great location and value. Room and bathroom nicely sized for two people. Front desk helpful with a flamenco show reservation and other advice.

It is our first time in Madrid and we're doing all the touristy things-- museums, cathedrals and palaces. This hotel is central to everything we want and the staff are very friendly! The rooms are clean, if basic. Beds are very, very firm so keep that in mind if it matters to you. At this price, it's a terrific launchpad...

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days a great location very clean and new. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only surprise is the continental breakfast and most of the hotels are available buffet breakfast is worth to visit this hotel. I recommend

Located right in the middle of Puerta del Sol with the Sol metro stop right outside your door. Plaza Mayor is a 10 minute walk away with the Opera metro stop. Staff was welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Despite being right in the square, and having a room facing the plaza, it was quiet enough to get a good nights rest....

Great Customer care. Had a WiFi issue and they helped in a second. The hotel is located at a very popular square - Puerta de Sol.Our room per request, had an excellent view of the always vibrant square. Room was ok. Bathroom was clean with amenities.Full of Egyptian towels. The Aero city substitute driver dropped us off about 500 meters...

Right by Puerta del Sol Hotel Europa is all about location. It's near this active square which places you midway between the great museums and the Palace - all worthwhile. The hotel is tired and can use a facelift. The staff was friendly and let me access my room upon arrival at 9. Pass on the breakfast unless you are...

We had a great stay but this was not a luxury hotel. The rooms were clean, the staff was great and the attached restaurant/café had good food but our rooms were reminiscent of a 1980s Days Inn ( 2 double beds with not much room between them) The cost was low and we came to see Madrid so we basically...

The location of this Hotel is fantastic- right in the center of major attractions We could walk to everything.. Metro stop right at the Hotel. Not far from train station. Rooms were clean and well furnished. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only negative was that the room was a little warm. We were on the top floor and it...

Sparkling clean hotel and great front desk, very helpful and perfect English! I would stay here again, but not in Superior Suite that fronts onto loud Plaza del Sol. However my kids loved looking out the balcony to see the activity below on the Plaza.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
