Location, service, food, treatment. Just could not ask for a better place for the price. Clean and quiet, even when Plaza del Sol is busy until 1:30-2:00AM. No problems when coming in the morning and leaving luggage when traveling to other cities.

Great value and location Know that most of the rooms do not have exterior Windows. You may have a window opening onto an air shaft. On the positive side it is very quiet. We found the location very convenient. The evening front desk staff manager/receptionist was very efficient and helpful. We appreciated his efficiency.

A great place to stay. Had a great conversation with a female priest we met there who is traveling for research. My wife had been to a professional conference in San Sebastian and we stopped in Madrid prior to our trip home. We have stayed at the Hotel Europa since the 1990s.

We have been in Hotel Europa 9 times during our trips to Madrid or via Madrid to somewhere. This time we had only one night on our way to Malaga. The situation in the heart of Madrid is absolutely superb. The rooms very good, especially superior rooms with views to Puerta del Sol. This time we had kindly the room... More

20 min walk from the main train station, 30 min ride from the airport and in the literal center of the city. You could not get any more central if you tried. Close to everything, great value and did I mention close to everything. 20 min walk to all museums, parks and tapas places. Puerto del sol is busy from... More

Hotel Europa provided front desk and bell hop service in English or Spanish. The room was comfortable and clean. Its preferred central location is within walking distance for most of Madrid's tourist sites and restaurants. We enjoyed the view and the sounds of the Plaza del Sol but if you try to go to sleep early you might be disturbed... More

Great stay in middle of everything. Can't beat location value and friendly staff especially Tomas. I'd come back. We could walk to everything. Safe , fun , a little out dated furnishings but big bathrooms.

I loved Madrid and Hotel Europe was the best place to stay for us. Very conveniently located in the center of the city. You could literally walk to every place from there which is what we did. Hotel is very clean, We stayed in family room so that was great. Staff was very friendly. Lots of nice places near by... More

The hotel and the staff were perfect. Beautiful, clean, knowledgeable, friendly and always professional. Some of the staff even helped me practice my Spanish. It is in the middle of ALL tourist activities, if you like that, you'll love it. Nightly entertainment in the square is a lot of fun.

This older hotel was lovely. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They held some luggage for us while we visited another city for 3 days. When we came back, our bags were waiting for us in our new room. The location is next to a happening square but the double pane windows kept the noise out. Good... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
