Had an absolutely fabulous stay here in July/August 2020. The staff were fantastic - so friendly and helpful, couldn't have done more for us. Had an amazing room, overlooking Puerta del Sol. The location couldn't have been better - centrally located to explore Madrid by both day and night. Can't wait to visit again.
The hotel is ok but the location is Spot On You are right in the center with everything right there Cafes/shopping/ you name it We booked a triple room with balcony- we just sat there the whole evening The breakfast was not included in the room tariff but it was really good at the hotel restaurant & I was surprised at the prices- like really reasonable If life takes me to Madrid again- that’s where I’ll stay!
Fantastic location in the center of historic Madrid next to Puerta del Sol with all its color and entertainment. Walking distance to the Prado Museum, Plaza Mayor, the Gran Via, and many other historic sites. Transportation hub of metro and buses. Great restaurants abound close to the hotel. Staff was very helpful referring me to the department store El Corte Ingles which has a travel agency inside convenient for buying train tickets.
This centrally located yet unpretentious hotel is the perfect launching point for walking to museums, restaurants, neighborhoods, and shopping in every direction of Madrid. Front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
My wife and I stayed at the Europa for 3 nights in March and were very disappointed with this hotel. Hotel lobby and room is very rundown, service is so-so. Beds are not very comfortable, and our bathroom had a bad toilet or mold smell. Puerto Sol area is a nightmare to move around in. I trusted Rick Steve's recommendation and in this case - I think he is off the mark. I recommend doing some research - there will be many better hotels in more desirable areas of the city for the same or better price.
