We stayed at the Hostal Tijcal on the night of April 17, 2017 and, as before, it was special. Great location, very reasonable prices, good room and helpful staff. For me, as I've said in earlier reviews, this is the place to stay.

Based on the location, by Plaza Mayor, and the friendly staff this could be a great budget hotel. Regrettably it is so rundown and shabby that it turned into quite a disappointment. We stayed in a private twin room for 6 nights in early December....More

I stayed at Hostal Tijcal since it was the only budget option available when I booked super last minute. Since it was also near Sol, I went for it. This is a hostal (a budget hotel) and not a hostel, so don't expect any place...More

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as
