Recently travelled to Madrid as part of a large group, and it was my first time staying in a hostel. As there was over 30 of us, it made sense to do so. Whilst the rooms were pretty small, they were clean, and it served as a decent base to get your head down at night, or pop back to... More

I stayed at MeetingPoint in spring this year for about a week and I had a great time there. Staff is super friendly and the location is fabulous. The rooms and common areas were cleaned every day and to me the price - quality balance was really good!

Some rooms are quite small, and some mattresses are very thin. The biggest problem was the noise from outside, I know there is nothing the staff can do about this, but thought it was worth mentioning. Large groups would congregate right under the windows on steps that led to the park and play loud music until 3am. This hostel isn't... More

There aren't many positives about this place. My biggest qualm was with the staff. When they weren't trying to rip you off they were hitting on you. They also made you feel like an inconvenience for existing. The cleanliness was questionable as was the location. Wouldn't recommend to a friend unless they were desperate. Also not the best place to... More

We have not idea about what are you talking about. In fact, we believe that you never have stayed in this hostel, from the beginning to the end what you say is meaningless, much more when we are located just facing the Almudena Cathedral and Royal Palace. No more comments about the rest... More

Recently my boyfriend and I had a short stopover in Madrid and thought we would stay somewhere cheap and cheerful as we were at the back end of a very expensive trip...I've stayed in a lot of hostels a few years ago and this one wasn't particularly good nor bad. We had a private room which was teeny weeny but... More

I stayed here for three nights whilst backpacking Spain and couldn't fault it. It was cleaned every day and the staff were friendly and helpful. I paid for food one night and had paella which was really good. Very good location and central! Only downfall is that there's no plug sockets by the beds only an extension lead at the... More

We went with a big group of guys (13 lads on a stag do) and we had an awesome stay. The rooms were clean and tidy, until we got into them I suppose, and the location was right near the busy areas of town. I'd say the best thing about this hostel is the staff, they were so helpful (arranging... More

Although this hostel is near the royal palace it s not a hostel that i recommend. Compare to other hostels you can find better places with better choices. The staff is not cool. The only maybe good thing is that you can meet new people every day .

The staff here are really nice - welcoming, helpful and pleasant. Even the housekeeping were really good. The rooms have a/c but not sure how it is controlled, the room was a little hot over night & in the morning. The beds are ok to sleep on, if you're a fussy bed-person, be aware that you can feel the metal... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
