Spent three nights here. Accommodation is lovely and spacious. Good bathroom with a good shower. Safe, kettle with tea and coffee, fridge and tv although no English channels but you're in Madrid so not going to spend much time in your room. We booked a room with a view which was spectacular. Good area to stay as near metro stop... More

A great place to stay with rooms looking across the Plaza d'Orient to the Royal Palace. Very comfortable room, well appointed bathroom and friendly staff. Proseco and wine left for us were appreciated. Very convenient location with (paid) parking hidden away under the Plaza gardens (2 minute walk from car to the hotel). If/when we return to Madrid we wouldn't... More

Check in was easy we arrived later on in the evening around 10:30pm the guy who checked us in was really helpful, gave us a map of the city & metro, he showed... More

The hotel has an attractive design and very clean, only slight warming tropical Room. But we... More

Having visited Madrid 3/4 times a year over the last twelve years, I have stayed in many of the city's hotels. This one is by far the best. Excellent value, large room, high standard of cleanliness with all the modern amenities one needs - wifi, lift, superb beds, rainwater shower and wonderful staff. Described as a 'Hostal' it beats many... More

The Central Palace Hostal is better than many hostals as the rooms are of hotel standards. Very clean tastefully furnished with a fridge in the room & coffee & tea making facilities & all en-suite. The reception staff are brilliant, so helpful . The location is fabulous as the views of the Royal Palace from the Panoramic rooms are awesome... More

What a great hotel situated by the palace. Our room had a Juliet balcony overlooking the palace which was stunning and very romantic. Decor was beautiful, bed comfortable with memory foam mattress. Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
