Wonderful view of the palacio real. The opera next door and listening to it from our private balcony made for magical stay. The price was amazing considering the view. Please go and experience this stunning hotel and ask for the room with balcony.

This hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking a park and the Royal Palace and various restaurants nearby. Our room was very pleasant and the service was good. We would recommend this hotel mainly for the view/location.

This modern and tasteful boutique hotel has an extraordinary location. From our window we had a nice view of the gardens of Plaza de Oriente and the Royal Palace of Madrid. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious and had a small balcony window. We also had a wide selection of restaurants at a walking distance.... More

This was our first visit to Madrid and we weren't disappointed when we arrived at this boutique hotel. Ahead of our visit, Beatrice sent a personal email explaining how to find the entrance and the exact drop- off point for our driver and recommended prices for a transfer! The receptionist was welcoming and offered to show us on a local... More

The property itself is well located close to the Palace although is no signage which makes the place very difficult to find. The building is very old and tired with a very small and dusty lift. The photos online are not a true representation of what the hostel is like at all and in my opinion are very misleading. The... More

We stayed at this hostel / hotel for three nights 25 - 27 June 2016. The access is through a door within a very large, double door, which can be confusing on arrival, if it's not propped open! So if it looks like it's closed, try pushing the small doors, they are self closing so will shut if not propped... More

We were 100% pleased with our stay at this hotel. The location could not have been better as it was directly across from the palace. The location was quiet and serene, yet close to all the action in Madrid. Our room was well appointed, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The price for the room was quite reasonable and the staff were... More

if you like a beautiful view, that's the place to stay . If you want to be able to find this place, and get into it, you will be sorely disappointed. No signs visible outside or inside. Reception was very hard to find, as there was no signage anywhere. Receptionist did her best.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hostal Central Palace. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was comfortable and spacious with a great view over the plaza. The location was absolutely fantastic for exploring the city either on foot or by using the public transport. As other reviews have mentioned the breakfast in the cafe downstairs is... More

Cristina was a wonderful host. Had a glitch in my reservation, but she worked hard to resolve it. Had a balcony with a view of the Royal Palace. Super location with access to most major sites (either walking or by subway).

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
