This hotel in the center of the city, near Paza Espana. Very good transport connection and access to the main touristic places in the town. Rooms at the top of the building with balconies and nice view to the streets.

Although no high-profile signs flash the name of the hotel, finding it was easy if one knows how to navigate Madrid. Gran Via is a major downtown thoroughfare, and the number 67 was emblazoned above the doorway. Hotel reception is on the sixth floor, but a quick question to the ground floor receptionist for the building quickly moved us to... More

Stayed for 2 nights and this place is right opposite the Cathedral, beautiful to sit outside with lots of cafes and a €4 breakfast deal with the cafe downstairs. We were greeted by Carlos when we arrived and although he spoke no English and we spoke no Spanish, we still managed to communicate. All the staff were very kind and... More

We paid for a room with a king size bed. We got two single beds pushed together. We paid for a balcony. The shutter for the balcony was broken and we couldn't get out on to the balcony. This meant that there was no natural daylight and no fire exit. We asked for the shutter to be repaired and were... More

We made this trip at the last minute. The hotel gave us a good location to travel from for meetings. The reception desk for the hotel is on the sixth floor. The room was comfortable with a small balcony.

I looked on line hoping to choose a nice hotel, for my trip to Madrid. Then bingo I saw this one, it had good reviews booked it and LOVE it. Will tell you why, the size of the room is great, the bathroom wonderful and the most unexpected was a private balcony and two twin beds. Huge cupboard, flatscreen tv. Like... More

We stayed 4 nights with the family (2 adults, 2 teens) in this top apartment at the 9th floor for only 500€. It has 2 bedrooms and a large living room with open kitchen. All new, white coloured and with new flat screen TV's in all rooms. Very modern and large bathroom. Foto on website does not show this excellent... More

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. Given the price of larger hotels and the fact we wanted to watch our budget this was a great little centrally located hostel. It appears that Madrid is awash with hostels and having only stayed in Madrid this once our review is purely based on this place as I cannot compare to others.... More

The room was small but clean and comfortable. There was a great balcony, and fridge. For 5 euro there was a really great buffet breakfast available. The location was very central. I'd stay here again.

I would recommend the Rincon Gran Via to anyone on a budget who wants value for money. This is spotlessly clean accommodation with small but adequate rooms. The breakfast is perhaps limited in choice but nevertheless at 4 euros is still good value. The real drawback, unless you are aware, is that the hotel is not identified from outside and... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
