We booked another 5 days stay at this very convenient location. Owners were again very friendly although their English is limited. They allowed us to book in early as we had luggage we wanted to off-load. Rooms are basic Hostal type but are adequate for our needs.

In the center of town, no parking but good access by Metro and Taxi. A good price for what you get. Quiet rooms facing into a courtyard is imperative when staying over the weekend. No breakfast service, good eateries are close.

The room was tidy and well maintained. The beds were firm and the pillows were soft. However the wifi was very weak, sometimes I had to go into the hallway to pick it up. The owner didnt know much english and he wasn't very friendly. I liked the fact the room overlooked the busy street Calle de Fuencarral which allowed...

Located right in the tourist part of Madrid, we found it to be surprisingly quiet and comfortable with very friendly staff - so much so that we booked a further 6 nights when we return from a 10 day tour of Morocco.

A small hostal in the near center of Madrid. I was traveling alone so I've asked for a single room - it was perfect, a clean room with a clean privat bathroom for a good price - 42 euro/night. They clean the room every day, and change the toweles. The location is perfect - 100 m to Gran Via and...

Really bad service. Room was ok clean and spacious. However when unfortunately I got mugged and all my money was taken from my accounts and my cards stolen the staff refused to let me use their computer. I needed to cancel cards etc ASAP they even charged me to use the phone. I really expect hotels to take care of...

We stayed 4 nights at Sonsoles. The building is beautiful inside. The rooms are small but good. A little cold in the Winter. The bathroom has plenty of hot water. Perfectly located close to shopping and great food. All in all really great for the Price.

I stayed there for one night. Room was small, bed and bathroom were okay but clean. Apparently Madrid is full of family hostels, who live in the hostel and rent rooms to travelers. To me it felt like invading to the family's privacy, which made me feel VERY uncomfortable. Also, in order to get in you have to buzz the...

I stayed here for three nights as a solo traveller, for me it was a perfect base only 150 yards from the bustling busy street of Gran Via, and easy access to the Metro. It was hard to find as it is tucked away really amongst the shops on Calle Fuencarral. The staff were friendly and the room was ok,...

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
