The location was absolutely amazing. Literally right next to Plaza Mayor, you could pop into the Mercado San Miguel just for a tapas, on your way to another attraction. The hotel itself was beautiful, just renovated, the rooms are lovely and spacious by European standards. The room was very quiet, and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff was very nice... More

The hotel was very clean and pleasant. it was very quiet in the room at night despite the fact that lots of people were still walking on the street. The beds were super comfortable. Buffet breakfast had good selection of food.

First time in Madrid and it was the best location to walk to almost every major site by foot. It was central to the Royal Palace, Royal Theatre, Parque Retiro, etc. This hotel doesn't have major thrills like a gym or pool. But, the breakfast buffet had a nice variety and was a great option since it was hard to... More

The hotel is recently renovated and very nice and quiet but in an excellent central location. The staff are very kind and helpful. The beds are also very comfortable. A very good place to stay in Madrid near lots of cultural attractions and good food.

First time in Madrid, could not have picked a better place. Great location to explore all the major sites on foot, and for the rest there is a subway (Opera ) within 5 minutes walk. Very friendly and helpful staff, champagne ( cava ) on arrival ( or whenever for that matter, the bottle is there for you to help... More

When we arrived at the hotel, it was a throwback to an 80’s hotel lobby but we quickly realized that the hotel is being renovated and it seems that the lobby will be the last part of the remodel. Once you leave the front desk area and go to the elevators you will realized that everything else is newer and... More

We had 2 rooms for 4 nights on the 6th floor. There is simply nothing to complain about at this hotel. The location is simply fantastic as it was our first visit to Madrid and we were able to walk everywhere with ease from the hotel. There are literally100s of cafes & restaurants at your doorstep and the palace is... More

The staff were extremely helpful, good English nothing was too much trouble. The first night we heard a very loud plumbing noise, running water quite loudly. This was unfortunately the people in the next room using the washing facilities., possibly our facilities made the same loud noise for them. Once they had finished all was back to normal. Not much... Stayed 4 nights wished we had booked a different hotel. The noise outside in the evening was the worst ever! Did not hardly sleep, we were lucky if we got 3 hours even though went to bed late to avoid noise it just went on and on, then street cafes start to set up and van deliveries. Hotel itself was... Super cute hotel! Central location. You can walk to everything. 5 minute walk to metro or renfe trains. Balconies are super cute, old fashioned style. They open up to the street views. Only weird thing is the bathroom has no doors so feel comfortable with who you are going with! Hahaha. I recommend going to a flamenco dance show when... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
