Easy walk from Sol Station which we used to get either directlt to, or got connections to Toledo, Segovia, El Escorial, Avila etc. We stayed at Hotel Francisco for 7 nights. Everywhere is spotless. Huge comfortable beds, large bathroom with good shower, although having a glasd bathroom door is a bit strange !! Good breakfast which you pay 10€. Rooms... More

It is in just 300 metres from Puerta del Sol. I stayed in two different rooms and one with a balcony/terrace was a realy great value while another smaller one (same price for some reason) was less so (although still OK for the location).

The hotel is very centrally located at a ramble price, relatively to what you can get. Rooms at roomy with free breakfast. Free wifi that works well. Staff are friendly. Only downfall this hotel has is the addressability. You need to go through stairs and hallways before reaching the elevators.

Great place, try room 206 for an amazing terrace right in the heart of the city, great customer service, bottle of fizz delivered on our first night, great gesture, very close to the main square, surrounded by fabulous shopping and great restaurants, a must stay in Madrid.

Stayed here for one night with two other couples on a short trip to Madrid. We went after reading reviews and seeing pictures, we were not disappointed. This is a beautiful, small hotel. Everywhere in it is spotless, the rooms are comfortable and the staff friendly and professional. We were all very impressed. When back in Madrid we will stay there.... More

This hotel was great, very modern and clean inside with huge beds, and because it was so central, we went back all the time to enjoy the aircon in our room and escape the heat. The first night, we had a room on the ground floor, but found it too noisy next to the kitchen during breakfast time so we... More

We arrived in the afternoon and because the hotel is located on a pedestrian street, we had to walk the remaining few meters to the hotel. We opened the doors to a long narrow lobby spectacularly finished in tile, marble, glass and mirrors. Two short sets of stairs led to the front desk manned by Emilio, the helpful, efficient desk... Fantastic hotel in the heart of Madrid. Could not believe this was only given a 2 Star rating. Do not be put off. Rooms immaculate! Bags taken to our room on arrival, by very friendly staff. Room was spacious and had a very modern and clean bathroom. Beds where some of the most comfortable we have ever slept in! 2... More

The hotel is situated very centrally and within easy walking distance of most main tourist areas of the city as well as the range of bars and restaurants that Madrid has to offer. This was perfect for us as we wanted to explore the city for the three days we were there. However because of the location, it can be... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as a weekend break with friends. It's ideally situated on Calle Arenal which has plenty of shops bars and places to eat. Then you are just a few minutes walk from Puerto del Sol and the rest of Madrid is easily accessible from there, The hotel was spotless and the rooms large... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
