Really enjoyed the stay here. Beds were comfortable, staff was fluent in English and was knowledgeable with area info getting to train station etc. Appreciate all they did, and the kitchenette is a huge plus where you can make and have quick snacks thanks to the mini fridge for storage.

Hi, I visited this hotel half year ago with my wife and friends. For sure placing of Espahotel is one of the greatest you can have. Central street, three minutes from closest subway station,10 minutes to walk from Royal Palace... Plenty of shopping or restaurants around. We didn't get the breakfast (and didn't use the kitchen utility in our room)... More

We opted for staying at this hotel due to its location. It is only 2 min. walk from Metro Station. There are bus stops just in front of it, so you are able to get to many points of interest by bus (Royal Palace, Passeo del Prado, Retiro Park). The rooms are spacious with dedicated area for kitchen utilities. The... More

Charming European style hotel in a vibrant and convenient location. Pleasant, extremely helpful staff. Lovely room with a mini-kitchen. Many Spaniards were staying there while we were. Definitely not a tourist hotel. We just loved it and highly recommended it.

Stayed here bank holiday Monday to the following Friday. Booked early so got a good price. Room spacious clean and views facing cathedral and palace. Didn't eat here so cannot comment on food. Room has a basic kitchenette with fridge microwave but no kettle so bring if you need it. Room safe included at no extra cost but it's a... More

Nice hotel on the main road through Madrid centre. Surprisingly quiet, considering its on such a busy road. Clean, spacious room with the welcome addition of a kitchen area. The fridge was much appreciated.

The location of this hotel is brilliant right on the Gran Via main street and in the heart of it all, down the road a 2 minute walk is the park which is lovely to sit and have a chill out, or head up gran via to all the shops and restaurants. The hotel was lovely the rooms were a... More

We stayed in a Junior suite and the facility is decent. Hotel needs updates but you cannot beat the location. We travelled with 2 kids and 2 adults and the rooms were good size. Kitchenettes fly equipped. We had 2 other families with us on this trip and their rooms were good as well.

We had booked 3 rooms. One was a small suite. The living area was large and comfortable but bedroom a bit small and claustrophobic. The other two rooms were a good size and the one on the 7th floor was airy and quiet. Comfortable beds. Kitchens varied - two had microwaves, third did not. Generally clean although hotel needs some... More

The hotel is well located if you wana enjoy shopping in Grand Via and has plenty of entertainment and food options that are a stone throw away.. but thats probably it. The rooms look old and run down, the ac in our room wasnt working and there were no double beds despite having requested for the same initially. The breakfast... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
