From the moment we walked in, we were in awe. The Hotel Orfila-Relais Chateau is a lovely boutique hotel. It is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main attractions, but easily accessible by metro or taxi. The staff were the friendliest we have encountered- they we charming and welcoming and went above and beyond their... More

Well, Hotel Orfila is the #1 Madrid hotel on TA. I'm a little surprised but I think it reflects the discretion of TA travelers. While not being in the heart of town or a fancy, major chain hotel, the Orfila does really provide a delightful, comfortable choice in a wonderful, quiet but convenient location. The hotel is really a beautiful... More

Warm welcome. Helpful staff. Nice elegant rooms. Excellent restaurant. Nice buffet and à la carte breakfast. 5 min walk from Plaza Colon in a quiet area. Taxi readily available (in less than 2 minutes). What's not to love? Will come back next time in Madrid.

What a wonderful hotel to spend a weekend in Madrid. This charming ¨boutique¨ hotel is very conveniently located outside of the old city but easily within walking distance. The hotel is comfortable and the food excellent, but the real charm is the staff. Everyone went out of their way, and above and beyond, to make our stay an excellent one.... More

Lovely room and hotel in a beautiful area! I am especially enamored with the scent in the lobby! I wish I bought the scent when I was there! Jose the concierge is amazing! Everything he recommended was so fun! Just a tip, the fridge is a cooler and won't keep any real food and it will spoil. I love all... More

Relais Chateaux hotels are our favorite and Orfila definitely meets its standards in service and food. Staff is very helpful n efficient. Rooms r neat. It is not within walking distance to major attractions but close enough to bike or just take metro. It's in a quiet neighborhood with many govt buildings and high end restaurants. Parking is conveniently underground.... More

Very clean and service was superb! The classic relais chateaux style hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Continuously provide us water for free by the front counter, and they have fan for us to take away. As we don't speak a word of Spanish, the concierge is kind enough to make reservations for us at a few restaurants and... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The small XIX century palace was transformed into a hotel in 1999, respecting the majestic style of the era, at the same time as installing all the appropriate commodities for a luxuorious establishment from the end of the nineteenth century. Only a year after it opened, the hotel joined the Relais Chateaux Chain of hotels, a group of the most prestigious hotels in the world. The hotels belonging to the Relais Chateaux must have 4 or 5 stars and less than 100 rooms, and be outstanding their strict respect for the five concepts that define the philosophy of this hotel chain: character, courtesy, charm and cuisine. ... more   less
