5 stars for the wonderful, beautiful Hotel Orfila. Thanks Josh Ortesky at GalaxyTravel and Cruises!! The friendly, helpful staff -- Marcos, Carlos, Emilio, Ruben, Jose and Pedro -- made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in and couldn't have been more helpful with recommendations for dining and great directions. Lovely, well appointed rooms with all the amenities one... More

This has a small hotel feel, beautiful décor, definitely five star service. Our Junior suite was a lovely room with huge bed, good bathroom and walk in wardrobe. Location slightly away from the centre but not too far, very quiet. Breakfast is good, the buffet not as extensive as some luxury hotels reflecting the small dining room but very high... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days at the beginning of September and could not have been luckier to find such an amazing hotel! We landed in Madrid at 6am, and after realizing we did not like the Airbnb we had booked, completely switched gears and called Hotel Orfila at 8am inquiring about any immediate availability. They were... More

Our recent stay at Hotel Orfila was quite enjoyable. The location is great as it’s a five-minute walk to the Plaza de Colon from the hotel and from there, another 15 minutes or so to the major museums of Madrid and Retiro Park. The Plaza de Colon has a major taxi queue as well as a subway stop so you... More

We were made to feel welcome from the second we walked in. Our room was well laid out and we had a small balcony. The bed was great and we just loved the feeling of quality cotton sheets. The bathroom had a separate WC but it was too small an area. The elevator service worked well and there was little... More

My husband, son, and myself had a superb stay at Hotel Orfila. We loved the hotel so much we stayed there twice during our three week trip through Spain. Jose and the entire team are courteous and extremely helpful. From the moment we pulled up our luggage was whisked away and no request was ever too much trouble. Definitely our... More

This hotel is a convenient gem located in a quiet neighborhood near Madrid's bustling daily life. While the architecture and furnishing highlight the building's century- old history and old- world geniality abound from the most helpful staff, the rooms offer all the modern amenities. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Madrid. We will return!

This is a hotel that was recommended by a resident of Madrid. It is centrally located, but on a very quiet residential side street. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms were large and well decorated. They have a great breakfast with a beautiful courtyard that you can eat in. There are only about 25 rooms, so very... More

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. When we arrived they upgraded us to a suite which was lovely and unexpected. We found the staff helpful especially the front office manager, Jose. He went out of his way to make reservations for us and to get us a good table. The hotel is in walking to distance to... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The small XIX century palace was transformed into a hotel in 1999, respecting the majestic style of the era, at the same time as installing all the appropriate commodities for a luxuorious establishment from the end of the nineteenth century. Only a year after it opened, the hotel joined the Relais Chateaux Chain of hotels, a group of the most prestigious hotels in the world. The hotels belonging to the Relais Chateaux must have 4 or 5 stars and less than 100 rooms, and be outstanding their strict respect for the five concepts that define the philosophy of this hotel chain: character, courtesy, charm and cuisine. ... more   less
