Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

Hotel is decent. Not a four star but the location is as good as it gets. It's in the heart of the city and you can walk to all the important places. Location is what makes this hotel special. Everyone was friendly. The hotel restaurant (for breakfast) was decent. Did not eat dinner here but tried all different restaurants outside the hotel. Madrid food seems to be the same in almost every restaurant. I was not too fond o the food in Madrid. The food in Barcelona was outstanding everywhere but the food in Madrid was not to my taste. There was one restaurant that we found that is not listed in trip advisor that we liked a lot. It is a Mexican restaurant called San Tita Carbon Mexicano located at fuencarral #74. This Mexican restaurant gets really crowded with locals. Make sure you make a reservation. Even at 10:45 at night we didn't get to a table till after midnight (really very crowded).

With all the cancellations from the airlines my reeservations with the hotel were severely impacted, however the hotel work with me to provide me and modify my resrervations accordingly, I had a non-refundable fare but they DID NOT charge any extra and move the dates to my family necessities This is Great customer service to have support when you more need it. Making a reservation through their website was quick and easy. Upon Madrid's lockdown, they stated all reservations would be refunded. It has been over six weeks since receiving this notice, and we have not received our refund. It seems they are quick to take our money but not so quick to return it.

We have stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and we were very satisfied with everything then. The hotel has a very sentral and perfect location. They can also provide a parking facility in their own building. So we went for this hotel because of the location and the parking facilities. Most of the hotel seems to be newly renovated and our room was of high standard. A friendly staff, a very varied and good breakfast - all at a reasonable price - made our stay very pleasant and comfortable. We can also recommend their restaurant for a good meal. We will certainly choose this hotel again fro our next visit to Madrid.

We spent 7 nights at this hotel and found it to be excellent in every way. Our room was quiet and comfortable and we were allowed to check in a little early too! Centrally located, this hotel was convenient to everything. We walked everywhere and nothing was more than 20 minutes away. I can’t imagine considering any other hotel if we every visit Madrid again, and I hope we do!
