Built on the site of a palace in 1953 in the grandiose opulent style of Franco's dictatorship. Lots of Marble and gold even in the lifts!. As a hotel it maintains high standards of service generally. reception was good, room service and restaurant staff at breakfast were excellent. In my view only the concierge service let the side down. Asked... More

Stayed for five days in August. Madrid was quiet and many things closed. However, this hotel was lovely. It is in the north of Madrid away from the hustle and bustle of the centre and perfect if you like to walk places. Nothing is that far away from here but it felt like a haven. Very clean, excellent bathroom and... More

Perfection the moment you enter. Very grand. So beautifully furnished. Has a lovely bar. A fantastic outside area. The breakfast is very good offering something for all. Lovely hotel staff. The best was Alfredo Garcia. Who was part of the concierge. He really knows his stuff and goes way beyond in helping you out. Fantastic. A great asset to the... More

We traveled to Madrid and stayed at Intercontinental Madrid. Location is premium: Paseo La Castellana close to Serrano where you can find all the luxury brands as well as Nuevos Ministerios and Santiago Bernabéu. It is also very close to Gregorio Marañon metro station. Service is great, they make you fill at home! We stayed at a Club Intercontinental room... More

We may talk about cleaning, beds, rooms, restaurant, among other kind of superficial details that are important, but this hotel commit and exceed all of them. So my experience goes beyond those, its human environment making it an amazing experience as all Intercontinental Hotels always provide. From its restaurant, front desk, reception, operators, cleaning ladies, security, concierge, and the Bar;... More

My first review, after many stays at Intercon Madrid. I went to b-school 3 blocks away "back in the day", but now this is my "home base" when visiting Madrid. Not just a work hotel for business trips, my family comes often and my toddler trolls the inner courtyard (chic lobby bar, adjacent to tranquil area, yet barkeeps "get it"... More

If you want to escape then a weekend here is delightful. Upgraded on arrival with a very helpful man at reception. Nothing was too much trouble & the staff in the Exec Lounge were so helpful especially with me being gluten free. We would certainly have a weekend here again

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions for business over the past 7 years. The staff are exceptional. They are attentive, friendly and very professional. The same people that greeted me in 2009 are greeting me in 2016. The facility is very well maintained. The location on Paseo de la Castellana is excellent. Metro one block away, good... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
