Stayed for 3 nights with family and found the hotel decent. Pro: Buffet breakfast that starts early, ideal for us as we had morning tours to catch Functional kitchenette Good sized bed, enough for the toddler to roll around Little garden Helpful staff, help book cans when necessary and when we forgot few items in the room. Cons: No bellboy,... More

I don't know if all rooms are the same, but my "Style Queen" room was flash. Huge, modern, marble floor. Electric blinds. Everything worked. I used it as a hotel; i.e. you can use it as just a bedroom or you can use it as self-catering. Has fridge, microwave, kitchen sink all nicely hidden behind doors. Beautifully clean. Only very... Ok first the positives a lovely hotel and I don't have a single complaint. Comfy bed, mini kitchen in the room so we have our own bacon and eggs in the morning and the shower! Wow Now if your looking to visit Madrid and not stay in city centre this is for you, but we didn't realise how far out... More

Stayed here for 3 nights when visiting friends nearby. The hotel was excellent and exceptional value for money. We were surprised by the modern and very spacious rooms, complete with Kitchenette. The free soft drinks on the first nice were a lovely touch, along with the complimentary water in the reception area. The hotel staff were very friendly, although we... More

We stayed here for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and its nearby neighborhood. The rooms are comfortable and very quiet. In fact, we slept until nearly 9 AM every morning, which is unheard of for us. The newly remodeled rooms are a little bit over engineered. It takes a while to figure out the myriad light switches. Also,... More

VP El Madroño is located in a good location in Madrid. it needs some major updates, but served the purpose for a long weekend visit to Madrid. The staff were very friendly and gave us good hints were to go to very interesting restaurants around that area.

This hotel was in a great location, close to a metro stop and within walking distance to many shops, bars and restaurants. We booked this last minute and got a very great price for a Saturday night, so I was not expecting such a nice room when we walked in. The rooms were big, clean and very modern. The bathroom... Very high standard of hotel 3 - 4 minutes walk from the Metro. Room had excellent facilities with the hidden kitchen. Bed was so comfortable and large 6x6. Couldn't find my wife the next morning lol. Bus 26 just around the corner takes you to Atocha train station. €1:50 & takes approx 25 minutes.

Reception staff were professional and the check-in was painless. We stayed in a classic double room for 6 nights. The room was large, spacious, and well furnished. There was a stove, microwave, and a fridge. Metro station is very close and plenty of restaurants nearby.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
