I only stayed for one night at the end of a long trip to Spain, but I wish I had booked a longer stay here!! The rooms are beautiful, the location is fantastic, and the service was wonderful. The hotel is difficult to find, only a small plaque outside. You have to ring to get in and explain which hotel you have a reservation for, but once you're checked in you'll get a code to let yourself in and out. The only issue I had was that the stairwell going up to the hotel wasn't very well lit - it seemed dangerous at times when I couldn't find a lightswitch anywhere and was trying to heft a suitcase down the stairs in the dark! Otherwise, this is a great, unique hotel.
Alviro and his wife are wonderful. I have been in the travel business in Canada for 40 years. This would be one of my top 10 places I have evert stayed. The value for money is fabulous. The location is fantastic. Walking distance to every place you would want to go to and see in Madrid. Once there renovation is done with an elevator and some family rooms I will be sending ALL my clients to this fantastic accomodaiton.
We had planned this trip twice for 2020, but restrictions made us cancel. When we were ready to travel again, Álvaro was most gracious in welcoming us to Artistic B&B. And we are very glad we stayed there. The staff are phenomenal, friendly, helpful, and most willing to speak English (our Spanish is almost non-existent. They are very clear the B&B is on the third floor (to Americans, the ground floor isn't the 'first' floor) and no elevator, so three flights of stairs. But Aida, who was working when we arrived, came down and helped us with out bags (we didn't even ask). With that small gesture, we knew we were in good hands. By the way, I'm an older, 'creaky' traveller as the Scots would say but I got used to the stairs quickly. Our room was ample, nicely decorated, clean, and bright. As is often the case in older buildings, there aren't a lot of outlets, but there were enough to charge our phones and, when needed, laptops. We were at the front of the building, and Friday & Saturday nights could be a little noisy; but, we always slept well. Artistic B&B is nicely located in Las Letras/Huertas. An easy walk to so much of Madrid: Plaza Major, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, the Prado, the Reina Sofia, the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum, the Retiro, Atocha Station, The Gran Via, Plaza de España, Royal Palace, Puerta de Acala, and more. And the neighborhoods are close-by: Chueca, Sol, La Latina (great, affordable food), Lavapiés (cosmopolitan edgy), even Colón (high-end shopping). The breakfast is very good. At the moment, not in the B&B, but you have a choice of two nearby restaurants: Gonzalez and Brown Bear Bakery. Gonzalez serves toasts and Spanish tortilla (more like a frittata) with coffee and pastry included; Brown Bear has a variety on offer: toast, eggs & bacon, pastry, even cake; plus coffee. Both are very good, though often busy. I really cannot recommend the Artistic B&B enough. Go, you will enjoy your stay.…
Great place, great customer service, right in the middle of Madrid, Alvaro and Pablo are the best ,they explained how to get around, it feels like having our own tourist guides. This beautiful old patrimony place is rustic, simple with old style. Highly recommend .
The location is very good and everybody was very friendly and available for help. If I need to stay in this city again, for sure I will do it in this hostel. In front of this place there's one of the best coffee in the city.
We were supposed to go to Europe in September, but have no choice to cancel the entire trip due to the virus. Alvaro has been very helpful. We got a full refund for the deposit. We will definitely book there for our future visit in Madrid!!
We had a trip to Spain booked in 2020. Sadly COVID prevented us from visiting. Alvaro accepted our cancellation and paid us a full refund. We really appreciate the refund as we can imagine it must be very difficult for anyone in the accommodation industry at the moment.
I only have been in this place for few days but it’s realy good everything clean, the people are realy nice and smiling! And it’s realy close from the center of Madrid ! I recommended to everybody ! The Covid rules are realy respected here, every day they give us a new mask and a gel beautiful room... So if you have the opportunity realy you won’t regreet this choice.
The service received from the Artistic b&b hosts was amazing. Unfortunately we could not travel due to Covid19 but the hosts were very efficient, understanding and we received a full refund. Looking forward to staying at Artistic b&b when we can travel overseas again.
I booked the solo room with a double (queen?) bed and my own bathroom it was perfect fit for me. The room was nicely decorated and it was a great introduction into Spain, since I was only there for a night before flying into Mallorca. The owner was delightful and went the extra mile to help me with various things - togo breakfast, taxi accommodation, etc. Also love the easy communication via WhatsApp, since I was traveling from abroad. If I go back to Madrid I would stay here again!
