I was scheduled to visit this hotel in May with several other friends. The hotel is closed for all of the month, and they refunded my account without me having to ask. They were proactive which was very impressive!
We are from Chicago and based on the review ratings we decided to stay here for 3 nights. Overall impression average. Pros: Great service. Staff is helpful with bags, when we called the shower not hot and the safe not working they sent someone up to fix it immediately and the best thing is we arrived at 11am and check in time was 2pm. They were kind enough to give us a room immediately. Nice lobby area Cons: Rooms are old and in need of updates. The interior is old, the stairways at the lobby are worned out and not appealing. Initially we booked a standard double room at the 9th floor. The room smelled of sewer and the hallway leading up to the room has this bright red carpet which reminds me of the movie shining. I suggest the hotel get rid of that carpet. So we weren’t happy w the room so we asked for an upgrade which cost additional 50 euros a night. Even with the upgrade, the room was slightly nicer but still old. The bathroom walls and countertop are probably many years and the bathrobes provided were so worned out that it looks like it’s been washed a million times. Get new robes! I regret booking this hotel but didn’t wanna pack and move to another hotel so we stayed to avoid the hassle of moving. If you want no frills good service hotel go for it. But for the same price I would rather go for a more modern hotel. This hotel is in great locations but so are other hotels along the same street like hotel h10 villa la reina, hotel regente, vincci capital. For the price we paid, I thought I could have gotten a much better deal. …
The motel itself was very ornate & decorated really nicely. The location was fantastic! So easy & close to all everything. Everything was very lavish but we just didn’t feel the love. The staff were pleasant but weren’t very cheerful to greet us. They didn’t offer to help us with our luggage even though there was 2 bell boys there watching us struggle with our large bags. We were on the 1st floor in a standard room. Our ‘view’ if you can call it that was of the air conditioning units (a service courtyard) The view was definitely not 4 star. Every time we had a shower the shower head would fall off & the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. (In the motels defence we didn’t notify them so they were unaware. we didn’t want to complain as the staff were not inviting at all)
Everything was perfect!! Location was brilliant!! Price was brilliant!! Room was very nice and modern with a huge tv. Rooftop bar is expensive but very nice. Easy access to airport via the metro too. Will be returning!!
We stayed here for a long weekend and decided on this Hotel for its location and roof top pool. We arrived at the airport and after a short taxi journey we were at the hotel. You will find most attractions in the city are within easy walking distance from the hotel. We decided to opted for a room with a balcony, which looked out onto the city and had the sun all morning and early afternoon. Breakfast had lots of options, hot and cold. The roof top pool is open to the residents of the hotel free of charge, they offer food and beverages, with a good level of service. We asked reception for an extension on our room as we had a late flight and for a small fee we had the room for the rest fo the day. We would go back and stay at the Emperador.
