Swimming pool can be ok but the service is horrible, and the staff unfriendly The hotel is old, could be nice and with character, but it is very bad maintained The location is ok, but there a lot better other hotels nearby you could go to

There was a sewer smell in the bathroom, so strong it would bother me in the room even with the door closed. The swimming pool only opens at 11am, it's super crowded and there isn't much sun late in the afternoon. Loud cheesy music, drunk people... not the ideal place for a romantic sunset. Avoid.

Great roof top pool and lovely breakfast in an excellent location. I would return. We had exclusive use of executive club which served basic drinks and crisps/ nuts. Staff friendly. The breakfast had lots of choice from cakes, muffins, lovely coffees stc

Pros: -The hotel is really well located. -The upper level city view rooms are well sized. -The rooftop pool and bar is amazing -staff are helpful and friendly The city view rooms are nice but the view are obstructed by apartments in my particular room. -The rooms are definitely showing their age. -The "fitness centre" is tiny and not well... This hotel is in a great location to all that Madrid has to offer. Stayed in a club room. Room was very nice old world charm. And very clean. Hotel staff were friendly on reception at at the pool side bar. The only issue is the 11 am opening for the pool. But overall would recommend and stay again.

Another wonderful trip to this hotel. I first went 3 years ago and stayed in a corner junior suite. It was fabulous!!! This time it was just myself, 15 and 12 year old. We stayed in a club room for 6 nights, which again was very clean and spacious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, from checking in,... More

The hotel is well placed in a central location with shops, restaurants and nightlife steps away. The rooms are well furnished, comfortable and the facilities were well serviced and of an excellent standard. It was better thank I expected for the price

The location of this hotel and the availability of a roof top pool were the major factors that impacted our decision to stay here. The hotel is situated on Gran Via and has three metro stations close by. It is within walking distance of a large number of shops and some tourist attractions. I would recommend purchasing a tourist metro... More

Chose this for its pool as we were visiting during hot August and it was a good decision. The views over the city are super, especially from the upper deck with its glass barriers (take mini binoculars!) and plenty of loungers across the various decks. Water was really cold but once braved, was really rewarding after pounding the hot pavements... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
