We stayed at the Wellington for a week, while on a tour of art museums and collections in Madrid and Toledo. The hotel is comfortable and quiet, even though our room on the 2nd floor faced the busy Calle Velazquez. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. Our room had a small sitting area and modestly-sized bedroom, but it was very comfortable. The bathroom was ample. The TV had a full range of Spanish and international channels, which allowed us to keep track of the coronavirus pandemic as it spread through Europe in late-February and early-March. As I mentioned, the breakfast buffet was excellent, with a very large selection of fruits, cereals, meats, etc. It is served in a lovely room that is full of light and very elegant. The hallways are elegantly decorated with paintings and prints. Room and laundry service were excellent.…
At last, a hotel which hasnt been spoilt by the modern designers. Elegance, understated staff who are there to ensure you are welcomed and looked after from start to finish....a little bit of calm in a world of hustle and bustle. An oasis in Madrid and I cant imagine staying anywhere else when I come to visit my daughter. A special mention to the gentleman who welcomed us on reception and was always there to help us when we needed guidance and was so kind. Only disappointment was that we hadn't realised there was no piano player on sat and sun....he sounded wonderful. We will return soon.
Our second stay at the Wellington, and every bit as impressed with the hotel. The culture is clearly a very good one, the staff, from the desk to the floor to the upstairs Club was always pleasant and helpful. The Front Desk arranged for a forgotten cell phone to be found in our room, then delivered to the airport in time for our scheduled departure. The location is excellent, a pleasant walk through the park to museums and the Botanical Garden. The Gozeiko restaurant in the hotel is first rate. Highly recommended.
I spent 4 days at the hotel (combination business meeting and leisure weekend) and could not have been happier -- great location in a lovely neighborhood; close to shopping, museums, and restaurants; very quiet, comfortable, and pretty room; excellent amenities; very good breakfast; welcoming staff; cozy bar; and very nice lobby areas.
I usually stay at other hotels but the Wellington was recommended by my cousin and the reality is that this is the hotel everyone is looking for. very well located in the middle of many restaurants and shopping, and walking distance to major attractions. the hotel itself is a renovated old building with great spaces, rooms are very good size and very clean. the service is superb, everyone is always trying to helping very amicable. The rooms as mention are very good and everything is provided. Food is very good and also the service in the restaurants is top class. Regarding price, for the quality, location and service it is excellent.
