Just wanted to share our experience at this hotel. The staff was fantastic, completely helpful and very fluent in English. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had all sorts of little mishaps with our trip and the staff went over and above to help us out. They offered personalized service in a big city. I would definitely recommend this...

Although I had not stayed in the Wellington for many years, the quality was as good as ever. Attentive staff, fine. clean premises and superb location make this my hotel of preference in Madrid. Easy walking to the famous art exhibitions and to the old centre of town.

I'm sad to report that this hotel did not meet expectations. The sun deck was under construction so the hotel did not offer the possibility to enjoy a cigar or a beer in the back yard. I wish this was informed on their website. Pool was closed for the season as stated in the website. Our room had a strange...

Our experience at the Wellington Hotel was indeed, a five star experience. Our check-in service was smooth and exceptional. We had no delays in checking into our room. The room itself was quaint and welcoming. Besides having a capsule coffee machine, the marble bathroom, lighting, and bed linens were exquisite. I enjoyed sitting in the area outside the downstairs bar,...

Stayed here for a conference recently and I can confirm that whilst not exceptional by modern international standards, the hotel is well located, reasonably priced and provides a traditional Madrid hotel experience. Worth staying at though if you're looking for ultra modern you should perhaps look elsewhere.

The Wellington Hotel is a good choice in Madrid. It is located in an upscale and quiet neighborhood, in the Salamanca District. It is close to several major museums and a park. A number of restaurants are nearby. The decor is rather old fashioned and dated, but the room was quite comfortable. It was too early for air conditioning, but...

The Wellington may sound great, with its five stars, and good look from the outside, but it is overrated. The lobby was tacky, not a place to spend any extra time. My room, too, was not great. It looked out onto the ugly pool, and the bathroom was not completely working. However, the service was good.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Wellington, but if booking here, you need to understand that the property is a bit dated, especially if you are staying in the less expensive rooms. The biggest drawback is that the hotel's HVAC only allows for single temperature control for the entire hotel, so you only can adjust the fan...

The hotel is located in Salamanca which is a very nice area in Madrid. We booked an executive room in order to have access to the executive lounge. We took our breakfast there. The choice and the quality of the food for breakfast at the lounge is very good. The cleaning of room was impeccable. Something I hadn't experienced since...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
