My husband and a colleague went to Madrid for work , i came along for shopping and relaxation. The hotel was beautiful - reception and common areas were big and had a royal touch. The bar was disappointingly brown and quiet, the rooms we got were very very old and worn. Wall to wall carpets are not my favorite as...

My wife and I stayed here while traveling through Spain in October. The hotel is extremely nice and very historical with a mid 1920's vibe. The room was nice and quiet and the location was a block away from the metro and only a few blocks away from some major tourist attractions. The only issue I had was that when...

This is my second time in a year that I stay at this Hotel and will keep staying more time to come. Service, location and the Property itself is simply excellent. There are Excellent Restaurants, Boutiques, Drug Stores and even Alcala Gate all at walking distance.

Great service. Very kind staff. Perfect location. Gorgeous Club Wellington and breakfasts. Classic chic in the fashion center of Madrid. It only needs improvement at the level of bathrooms, which are pretty oldish.

I am staying at the Wellington Hotel. Over the last 15 years I have been staying here a couple of times and I always liked it. However now they must have given up on quality of services and on keeping their rooms in a half way decent way. The 60ies furniture might be charming - the run down (through) carpets...

A classic hotel with impeccable service and amenities. Breakfast is excellent and not seen anymore. Keen to come back for leisure on vacations with the family. Gym could have direct internal access, specially in winter time.

I have been a guest in the Hotel Wellington more than eight times. I will not return. My last two visits were horrible. Two visits ago my room was noisy and very uncomfortable. I polite requested assistance. I was told "those things happen". My visit last month was the last straw. In the lounge area I ordered a glass of...

This is located in a great part of town close to many great special places to eat, shop, walk in the park and people watch. Inside the hotel you feel like you are in a grand London hotel during the turn of the century. The service is unmatched. Great place to stay if you are just arriving from out of...

Spent the weekend here and really enjoyed the luxurious feeling of this hotel. The staff was friendly, the rooms very comfortable with more than whatever you could need, and the breakfast was absolutely incredible. I hope to go back.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
