3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed for one night with my 5-month old daughter. Although the hotel is beautiful (in a traditional kind of decor) and service is nice, this is not a good hotel for non-walking children. The entrance is full of stairs, which makes it difficult to carry luggage, child and baby carriage. Butler was very solicit, but let's be honest: it is... More

Stayed for 2 nights on return visit to Madrid. My wife and I though we would try this grand old hotel. Location is good. Close to shopping and many nice cafes and restaurants nearby. Close to metro. When you walk thru the revolving door you realise straight away this is a grand old hotel. The staff are efficient and polite... More

We had access to the club on 7th floor. Well worth it. What a pleasure to have the excellent gym and outdoor pool. Room was luxe and quiet for good sleeping. Will return. Breakfast included terrific..

We had always admired the Wellington when living in Madrid. So this year in June we stayed there during our five day visit to Madrid. The Hotel is traditional, mid sized, classically refined. The rooms are confortable, well furnished ,the bath rooms large and clean...and the service is excellent. We also enjoyed our breakfast every morning, the conscierge service (reservations!) and every tiny detail. The curtesy of the... Stayed here for four nights on a recent visit to Madrid as part of a three week holiday. We stayed in an executive club room on level four of the hotel overlooking the pool area. The hotel is in a cracker area, close to all the mens shoe shopping and mens custom shoe workshop areas. Its also a ten minute... More

We spent a long weekend there. Had a small but quiet room. The old fashioned charme of the hotle has been reasonably adapted to the modern taste and expactations. Shopping in Salamanca area and the museums triangle are not far away, so that you -at the end of the tourist day - appreciate the cool water of the outdoors pool... More

Highly recommend the Wellington. The best part was the breakfast. Beautiful home made cakes, Japanese food, every egg dish under the sun. Stunning. The pool is awful. The sauna and jacuzzi are ok. We had the suite and it was worth the extra cost. Good views and good location.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
