This hotel has a perfect location. Approximately 50 meters away from Puerta del Sol. A few things needs to be upgraded, for example the safety box. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Overall I like this hotel. All the people that work at this hotel are pleasant and helpful.

Initial impression was not good. Cons: 1. The young man at check-in was dismissive and inconsiderate, not at all welcoming. We actually considered looking for another hotel as we sat in the waiting area and watched him ignore us and our sleepy children for 45 minutes. Finally the 2:00 check-in time came and we were allowed to check in. 2.... More

Hotel in the center of Madrid. Rooftop breakfast was good. The room was really big and the bed was comfortable. No cars allowed so it was very quiet once the shops closed. The elevator was a little outdated

The hotel is very close to Sol Square and Calle de Mayor which meant easy accessibility to sights and tours and shopping. The staff were very helpful, rooms very good and the breakfast on the roof top was the best. Great choice of foods and drinks, plenty of healthy options and also there was a good play area for children.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
